The UN in The US? Oh Please Oh Please Oh Please

Nitwit Brit writes an article claiming the US is in a 'Civil War' by adding homicides mostly committed by criminals and suicides w/ 'private gun ownership' and says the UN should get involved.(The photo is also miscaptioned).

Let's play a little tactical/strategic wargaming, shall we?  Let's say the UN does start dropping 'peacekeepers' in to end the 'Civil War' and 'maintain order'. Just where are they going to be? 

Cities?  UN troops go into high crime areas of cities like LA or Chicago.  The gangs would have a field day.  APC would have concrete blocks dropped on them from high-rises, sabotage, shootings, mobs, you name it. Eventually the 'peacekeepers' would end up in protected enclaves and 'safe zones', areas that had low 'gun crime' to begin w/.  Gangs would then have all that equipment (real machineguns, FAL's, night-vision and other optics, possible heavy weapons and armor) they stole/looted from the retreating blue helmets.

Suburbs?  Probably the only areas the UN could function.  Lower levels of firearm ownership (legal or illegal), low crime in the first place.

Rural?  Yeah right.   How many hunters, target shooters, etc. would take shots at convoys or patrols as they attempt to move along highways and country roads? Potted blue helmets would replace deer heads on many a wall. One thing that several Europeans have told me is that the size of the US is hard for them to imagine since most of their nations are the size of one or two of our states if that.

So basically just another ignorant anti-gunner thinking he's qualified to make decisions on topics he knows nothing about.

GUN DRAMA!!!!!

Over on FTF, author Jlgrant put up a post about a severe failure of the firing pin/spring on his SKS following him replacing it w/ one from 'Old Man Murray'(OMM).  JL was not pleased (language alert). 

Well OMM replied and stated it was most likely caused by a 'popped primer' in Wolf ammo. 

Jl is going to do a test.  Original Soviet spring and various types of ammo since he wasn't 100% sure what he was firing.

So place your bets.  Is it the ammo or is it the spring?  Hopefully we'll find out Monday. 

As for me, I'm leaning towards the spring.  I don't know anything about OMM so won't make a judgement on them but I have put hundreds of Wolf rounds through both my Chinese and Soviet SKS's and have never seen a 'popped' primer on any of my recovered cartridges. I know there's lots of Wolf hate out there but they work great in all of my commie guns.

SKS/AK Sight Adjustment Tool

Took out my Commie guns last weekend.  I knew the SKS's were way off and had suspicions for the AK. It was.  Using a piece of cloth, tap and mallet, I got all of them horizontally zeroed but didn't have anything that would adjust the sights vertically. I knew that I wouldn't be the only person to have this issue and that someone would have come up w/ something.  A quick google search showed me correct.

Tapco. About $15 through Amazon. There were cheaper ones available but I decided to spend the extra few bucks on a name I knew.   This weekend I'll finish the zero-ing and then take my vengeance out on all those insurrectionist hedge-apples and chestnuts.

Striking a Nerve

Elliot Fineman and his motley group of 'C' list PuSH'ers have a slow learning curve when it comes to interacting w/ pro-rights advocates.  In order to defend against the fact that US crime is down, they brought up the international comparison canard:

Ah.  'Developed'.  So I asked them what that meant, knowing they couldn't answer.  I got 'the list':

All but one a primarily white, European based nation.  Well they got called to task on that and responded w/ another 'list', but still no evidence.

Now most of those nations are 'developed', 'Democratic' yet have much higher crime (including gun crime) than the US and often stricter laws.  So according to Elliot's mob, only White, Democratic countries can have low violence w/ 'effective gun laws' (if you ignore Russia and most of E. Europe). When called on that they got a mite upset:

So when their racist, bigoted meme falls flat, they resort to more character attacks, nonsense statements, stereotypes and ad hominems.  And these are the people that keep demanding we have a 'conversation'.

They later tried to use some stats to 'prove' their point, but all they did was prove they don't know how to use statistics.  They posted a map of US cities compared to a bunch of foreign nations.  I kid you not.






Well all that shows is no correlation of firearm laws in the US to crime. Take a look at Baltimore, MD.
Here's the source data for their international numbers.  Note that when it comes to the rates and %'s of 'gun homicides', most of the map goes neutral as they don't actually have the info. Even the numbers they do have (Brazil, most of Northern South America and Central America) completely destroy their myth.

Navy Yard Shows Fallacy of NRA's 'More Guns' Solution After Newtown, the gun lobby powerhouse said the solution was armed guards. So what about Navy Yard?

Yet all of their favorite politicians (Obama, Bloomberg, Rhambo, etc.) have bevies of public and private armed guards protecting them and it was armed guards who stopped the shooter. Think how many would be gone had there NOT been security there.

That's part of a quote from a friend of mine who sent me an email about the CNN article admitting there was no AR used in DC and then going on about how dangerous AR's are. Here's the rest of the email:

man, I couldn't read too much of that.  The BS was literally coming out of the screen.  Ew.  I'm disgusted at how much they're glorifying the violence @_@  They write with such passion about the violence it's revolting!  I know the penis meme is leveled at us, but reading that article (and I didn't read the full thing) I can almost imagine them stroking off to a small idol of the AR-15 while watching the carnage.  *shudder*

I pretty much felt the same way.  They go on and on about how the AR is a 'killing machine' AFTER they state one wasn't used and ALL the initial reports were wrong. No agenda there.

About the only thing known right now in the DC Navy Yard Shooting is the name/pic of the guy who did it (although several media sources put out the wrong name earlier).

What we DO know is that the anti-gun lobby is furiously emailing/conference calling eachother discussing how to exploit it and what laws they can try and push.

Again, good.

Gun control backers say they have yet to win a single new Senate supporter, and many worry that the muscle shown by pro-gun groups and voters last week in Colorado will make it even harder to find converts.

Like I said, that was the point.  No matter what the 'polls' by anti-gun groups say, the majority of the population do NOT support gun control.  At least the ones that actually pay attention and vote.

"The NRA does its job better than our side does our job," said Jim Kessler, a co-founder of Third Way, which advocates for centrist Democratic policies. "They know how to influence and intimidate elected people."

That 'influence and intimidation' comes through these things called 'members' and 'elections', something the anti-gun groups don't have. The ONLY thing they have is money from Bloomberg, Soros and the Joyce Foundation.

Only Ones in NYC

Police say officers saw a man on foot weaving erratically through traffic and sometimes blocking vehicles. After approaching him they say the man reached into his pocket as if grabbing a weapon, and two officers fired shots.
Police say they missed him, but a 54-year-old woman was struck in the knee, and a 35-year-old woman was grazed in the buttocks. Both were taken to a hospital, but police say neither had injuries considered life threatening.

Now remember, we're told that the police are the only ones responsible/safe/trained enough to carry firearms in public and when things like this happens it's further proof civilians shouldn't be allowed to.
