More CCW PSH

MAIG's 'strategic advisor', Cliff Schecter (who we met here), is trying to get others to mess their shorts over National Concealed Carry reciprocity w/ the ol' 'arming criminals' bit.

Much better to have arbitrary systems like NJ where the authorities only approve licenses for legislators. Even if they have criminal backgrounds.

Remember that MAIG supports banning most types of semi-auto and restricting private sales while at the same time attempting to litigate firearm dealers they determine to be 'bad' out of business along with wanting to base NICS background checks off of secret gov't watchlists w/o due process.

That's the kind of 'strategies' that MAIG pursues.

SIH has more.

Different Day, Same Unsupported Fear-Mongering

Dennis Henigan, acting Director of the Brady Campaign, has seen his organization go from standing behind presidents as they pass sweeping gun bans, to trying to keep college students disarmed and defenseless. The rhetoric they use is the exact same that was used to try and oppose CCW which has swept the nation over the past 20 years:

For example, a student's protest of a low grade could turn violent, a depressed student could commit suicide with his roommate's gun, and a gun could discharge when it is accidentally dropped at a fraternity keg party. These kinds of shootings are far more likely to occur than a violent student entering a classroom intent on mass murder.
Just like there would be 'Wild-west shootouts' over parking spaces and 'blood in the streets nationwide'. The best they have are a few dozen anecdotes spread over years while 6 million+ walk around daily.

They would rather you be a guaranteed victim, betting on the intentions of a violent criminal, than have a chance at defending yourself. Remember their old motto "Just give them what they want and they won't hurt you"

"Gun control? That’s for other people, not for us."*

Just like most limousine liberals, Micheal Moore, who attacked the NRA and firearm ownership in general in his highly and selectively edited 'documentary' (and I use the term loosely) hired professional, armed security when he felt threatened.

"Gun Crime" in Chicago Enabled by BATFE

It turns out that at least one firearms dealer in Indiana was told by the BATFE to allow straw purchases even knowing the buyers were felons and that the guns were likely going out of state, most likely to Chicago. Now these firearms are being traced back to the shop in large enough numbers that the FBI tried to put it under more scrutiny.

So the BATFE is enabling criminals to commit violent, armed crimes. How many people have been shot or victimized because of the agencies actions? Will we hear MAIG mayors Emanual and Bloomberg saying the BATFE needs to be reigned in? Or Rev. Jessie Jackson and Father 'Snuffy" Phleger decry these activities that are making their city more dangerous and killing children?

Don't hold your breath.

Labor Day 2011 in Pictures

The day was beautiful. 70 deg and partly cloudy. So I invited a friend down and we hit the range.

Norinco SKS
Ruger 10/22
Czech VZ-24
RIA 1911A1
S&W M&P 9mm

I've built up and improved the backdrop a bit. Increased the size using old tires, gravel and hay bales. Replaced some worn out/shot out frames and added a second target stand for plinking cans etc.

Shooting.

Some 8mm hydroshock effect on a family sized can of tomato soup.

My buddy's been so long shooting bolt action he kept trying to cycle the SKS.

"And I thought they smelled bad.....on the outside" - Han Solo

And the follow-up. Burgers, Brats and Dogs on the grill.

Now just to balance out the day, my laptop crapped out on me (I'm currently typing on my Netbook) w/ a broken power connector. My friend is a computer/IT tech and w/i an hour had found the requisite part w/ a promise of repairing it for me ASAP. Yeah. He's getting some ammo out of it, that's for sure. It's a whole hell of a lot cheaper than having to buy a new computer.

'Reasonable', 'Common-Sense' Gun Control

Cleaning out the car, I found a box of 20ga game load and a couple of loose rounds of .22LR. Some of those from a Remington brick of 550.

Had I been driving through MA or NJ, I would have been committing a felony.

And those are the kinds of laws that gun control advocates mean when they use the expressions 'reasonable' and 'common-sense'.

Linky poo fail :UPDATE

I've been checking the Brady Bunch website everyday waiting for their 2010 "annual report" to come out so I can see how much they suck.

Well this morning, I wasn't able to check how much they sucked because their website is now a dead link.

Perhaps Helmke was the only one paying the bills?

I sure hope they come back soon so I can see how much they suck.

For now, all I can do is imagine they suck so bad that they don't even have the cash to maintain a domain name.

I hate imagination, I want the truth.

UPDATE: The site is back up ...and they suck.
