Those Racist Gun Shows?

Gun Control fanatics like to trot out the meme that gun shows are hotbeds of 'insurrectionist' and anti-semitic activity. They know this because they've gone to one or two and seen pallets of the 'Turner Diaries' and 'Nazi paraphernalia'.

I've been to dozens of gun shows in Illinois and made this comment back in '08:
Also talked to "The Book Guy", Roy Carey Jr. (cgabooks@verizon.net) Oddly enough, there was not a single copy of the Turner Diaries or the Protocols present so I asked him why. He told me that not only does he not carry books like that (along w. ones like the Anarchist Cookbook) but that the sponsors of the shows he attends (most of Il and the tri-state area) don't want them there either. Hmmm. That seems to fly in the face of PSH claims that lines are out the door at shows for materials like that.
So I've never even SEEN a copy of the Turner Diaries at any local shows, never mind pallets of them being sold by the dozen. You can get it on Amazon though. Amazon must be run by the Klan.

Have I seen 'Nazi paraphernalia'? Yeah. Right next to all the other WWII antiques and re-enactment gear including US, Russian, Japanese, etc. I sell E. German and Chinese camo. I must be a proponent of Communism.

Is this kind of activity out there? Sure. W/o a doubt. There's nutballs in every element of society. But the only thing that they can do is make insinuations and take one or two 'damning' upskirt photos out of the many attendees.

Um...well, truth in advertising - I HAVE seen those racist books at gun shows, big gun shows, more than one. Didn't see any pallets or long lines, but I did see the books.

As with any subculture, some of those who agree with us on one level appall us on all the others, and it's okay to wish they'd go away but probably not best to pretend they don't exist. It doesn't make us wrong, it just proves you can't choose your cousins.

Saw some creepy guy selling porn at a flea market. So maybe my Grandmother is some fettish freak because she cruises for arts and crafts.

Looks like Ladd is turning to "Second Amendment Supporter" Robert Farago to support his cause too.

I wonder if TTAG gets any Joyce Grants.

I read many reviews about the Turner Diaries that only said "If the government had the power to ban books, they would ban this one."

So, I bought and read a copy. I thought the book was trash and it has bee resigned to a box in the attic with other books that sucked. With that being said, I own a copy and that does not mean that I agree with the message, just like I have read Mein Kampf, the Communist Manifesto, and Das Kapital.

Of course, I have also read "The Wealth of Nations," the Federalist Papers, and the Anti Federalist papers. I read a lot. I don't agree with all of it, but it is ignorant to censor and ban ideas that you do not agree with.

Everything Joel said.

Like him, I have seen that book for sale at gun shows.

I've also never seen anyone even looking at it, let alone buying it.

(I've also seen JPFO tracts for sale, which is the most useful antibody I can think of, in context.)

Well obviously they sold out before you got there. Duh. ;)
