PFRPG 1st Ed Campaign: The Temple of the Eldren

Continuing the adventure from here

The hermit had told the group about a cave that would offer clues as to the nature of our quest.  Locating the entrance, it initially looks to be a natural cavern but further investigation leads the party into an area that had been intricately designed and older than any of them had ever seen before.  A series of traps and puzzles confounded the party for a time but they were eventually able to overcome them discovering some clues as to its builders and a prophesy of doom to come.  Soon a battle ensued against the recent inhabitants of the temple, a magic-user of some sort and a few inexperienced fighters, who were quickly dispatched.  Further exploration discovered the fact that the building was in fact a temple of an ancient race, previously unheard of,  known as the Eldren, destroyed during the Great Battle against the Old Ones. Some of the temple was inaccessible, reacting strongly to several attempts to penetrate deeper.  Much gold and several magical items were recovered. One item being a sentient sword created by the Eldren known as Ahn-Sehm (Servant of Sehm) that was assembled from pieces discovered in the temple. The sword, a sarcastic creature, became bonded to Frederick the Cleric.

PFRPG 1st Ed Campaign: The Woods (enter Strongbow)

The GM ran a few sessions to acclimatize new players into the system.  I was not present but what occured was that the group formed and explored a cabin that turned out to be the recently abandoned lair of an evil witch.  Clues were discovered as to the whereabouts.

The Woods (enter Strongbow)
Following the map discovered in the hut, the party traveled through the northern Timiro woods, on the way enlisting the aid of an Elvish Longbowman to bolster their firepower.  They soon encountered a mad hermit who managed to slip a drug into their food while rambling on about the evil witch they are attempting to locate.  Upon awakening in the morning, they found the desiccated corpse of the hermit, looking as if he’d been dead a hundred years.  The body had a tattoo of a strange and unknown (at least to the party) symbol:

Palladium Fantasy 1st Ed. Campaign: The Ancient Dread

A fantasy campaign that has been ongoing for some time.  The original group lasted approx. a year before it dissolved.  There was a period of near two years before we were able to find another player to fill out the ranks and the desire to game became overwhelming. The current group has been going for near a year w/ monthly or bi-monthly sessions.

Palladium FRPG 1st ed. is an old school system somewhat comparable to being between AD&D and 2nd Ed. from TSR. It's rules and layout are very rough but it allowed for a greater variety of character races and classes. I've been running/playing it since the late 80's and convert newer world books to the older system.

The character I run is an Elvish Longbowman (bowelf?) and have been running him from the beginning.  Currently 6th level and incredibly deadly at long distances.  He's the 2nd son of one of the last Elven noble houses in the Palladium world, hailing from a March(Marq) in the destitute Land of the South Winds. More character details later.

On to the cast:

Palladium Fantasy: The Ancient Dread Campaign

Strongbow: Elf Longbowman
Echo: Female Human Air/Water Warlock

Eastern Bloc Soviet Independent States (pt I)*

This is a concept I've been playing w/ for many years, a supplement for Palladium Book's 1st Ed. Robotech RPG focused on the reborn Soviet state known as the E.B.S.I.S. (Eastern Bloc Soviet Independent States).  All of the 1st ed. books are long out of print but regularly available on Ebay and Amazon. 2nd Ed. doesn't include them unfortunately. This first post will be a collection of 1st ed. references from these books and the Palladium Weapons Compendiums.  Later posts will be O.C.C.'s (Occupational Character Classes), gear, vehicles, history, etc.

Macross Era:

Book II: RDF Manual
Pg 28-32  This includs a history of the E.B.S.I.S., Soviet Mecha (both stolen/modified RDF and Zentraedi), Soviet Aircraft Carrier (CVS Iepetus), Conventional Aircraft (including the MiG-23, MiG-29E, and MiG-25). Several of the random adventures include Soviet forces.

Book VII: New World Order
Pg 28-30 An overview of the E.B.S.I.S Aswan Base in Africa including mecha, vehicles, troops, and major NPC's.Southern Cross/Masters Era mecha are included in the list detailed in Ghost Ship and Southern Cross.

Book IX: Strike Force
Pg 25-27: T-99 Surgut Battloid
Pg 43-44: E.B.S.I.S. Infiltration Operative.
Pg 98-99: Soviet supplied black market in South America

Adventure: Ghost Ship
Pg 40-43 Details on the Soviet presence in space, mecha, & privateers. Random encounters include several E.B.S.I.S. conflicts.

Southern Cross/Masters Era:

Book IV: Southern Cross
Pg 71-75 These pages include an updated status of the E.B.S.I.S, their remaining RDF/Zentraedi mecha, and specs on the three Soviet battloids (mentioned above)

New Generation/Invid Invasion Era:

The book states that the E.B.S.I.S was completely annihilated during the Invid onslaught. A later book includes some survivors/splinter groups that details equipment that can be used for the S.C. era above.

Adventure: Lancer's Rockers
 Pg 8-9: E.B.S.I.S. Military O.C.C.
Pg 35-40:  Military vehicles, body armor, weapons, and alternate mecha.
Random Encounters throughout the book.

Contemporary:

The Compendium of Contemporary Weapons includes numerous Soviet/Warsaw Pact firearms, heavy weapons, and armor including the T-72, BRDM-2, and BMD.  Stats would need to be modified from the SDC to MDC system since a typical tank in Robotech has 200 MDC.

Chicken Stew

For a change from the Beef Stew, I decided to go real crazy and try.... Chicken.

Family size can of Cream of Chicken soup and either a 15 oz or 32 oz container of chicken broth depending if you like it really thick or a little thinner.

1 1/2 lbs of potatoes cut to about 1/2"-3/4" pieces.

1 1/2 lbs of carrots also cut to about 1/2" size pieces.

Not Pictured:  3 Stalks of diced celery and 2/3 cup rice

Spice it up. I like it w/ heavy pepper but also add , Salt, Onion Powder and Soy Sauce to taste.

Stir it together in crock pot at 300 for 3 hrs., stirring every 45 min or so.

After, I added two chicken breasts cut to about 1/2" pieces. I also added some dark meat from a leg and thigh. Stir in thoroughly.

Turn temp up and cook for another 3 hours, stirring about every 45 min.

W/ the last halfhour, I added a can of pre-cooked peas.

The chicken itself was fresh butchered and fairly old so it was a bit chewy. The vege's had just a bit of crunch to them.  I'm thinking of putting the chicken in early next time and adding the celery later.

Hanging It Up (Mostly)

I'm tired.

I've been running DOOT for near 8 yrs now, posting pretty much daily and doing 2A activism for a bit longer than that.  All on my own time and dime.

I'm tired.

I'm tired of reading post after post of nasty, hate filled rants by anti-gun fanatics.  I'm tired of watching testimony by anti-gun politicians who either outright lie or are so stupid as to make me shake my head as to the completely ignorant constituents who voted for them. I'm tired of watching the warzone that is Chiraq and being blamed for it because some mentally deficient gang banger wants to shoot up his 'hood to gain some cred.  I'm tired of reading half-educated 'journalists' repeat the same memes and talking points over and over in the papers.

I'm tired and I'm burned out. I still read the updates from my friends but I just can't get the motivation to follow suit anymore.

So I'm taking a break.  If something really speaks to me I'll post but for the most part any posting will be irregular and primarily game/review related. DOOT will still be here.  Just a bit quieter for the nonce.
