Who Speaks For Chicago Residents?

Is it Jessie Jackson who only shows up when cameras are on? Father "Snuffy" who can't even keep drug activity away from his own church? Or the citizens of Chicago who are tired of being victims?

The Chicago Firearms Safety Assoc
. has sent a letter to all African American Representatives to find out.

Dear State Representative,
I am respectfully asking all of the Black State Representatives to host some type of public forum on the issue of concealed carry legislation before the Fall Veto session begins. How can you vote in the best interest of your constituents, if you don’t know what they really want? How many have actually made an honest effort to find out. Jesse Jackson and Father Phleger do not speak for the majority of the Black community!
On Aug. 31, Representative LaShawn Ford hosted a Town hall meeting on concealed carry and found that the vast and overwhelming majority of participants want to see HB-148 passed. The Second Amendment Collective held a Town Hall meeting at WVON Radio Station on the same day and time as Rep. Ford’s Town hall meeting. State Representative Marlow Colvin attended that event. Out of the 80 - 100 participants present, Rep Colvin was the only person in the room opposed to HB-148!!! In late April or early May, Rep. Constance Howard held an unofficial poll regarding HB-148 on her Facebook page, again, the vast majority of respondents wanted to see this bill passed. WVON radio station conducted one of their daily polls in August on concealed carry. The WVON POLL was 98.7 % for and 2.3% against. It was the highest votes cast ever for a WVON poll, more than twice the number that typically participate in their daily polls.
I believe that Rep. Colvin was surprised at the level of support the participants at the WVON meeting gave to HB-148. I believe that Rep. Ford and the other three Reps who attended his meeting were surprised at the positive response, as was Rep. Howard when she held her Facebook poll. Representatives are elected to represent the interest of the constituents who vote them in office, not their personal interest. I believe that the majority of Representatives who voted “no” to HB-148 assume they know what their constituents want, but very few have made any honest, genuine efforts to find out. I therefore reiterate my request that you hold some type of public forum, allowing both the pro and con sides of the argument to be heard by your constituents, so that they can make an informed decision as to where they stand on this issue, and your vote this Fall be reflective of that decision.

Sincerely,
Gerald L. Vernon, President
Chicago Firearms Safety Association
Rest assured, we WILL keep the pressure on ALL the Representative to find out why they think keeping us victims is in our best interest.

A Tale of Two Conferences

Apparently there is some sort of gun control event going on in DC tonight (9/21) as there have been a few tweets (and only a few) about it from one single attendee. Otherwise one would think it was just a normal night on the hill. Must be a pretty exclusive affair as there doesn't seem to be anything about it on the CSGV's FB page or their website. Not even any photos.

Then there's the SAF/ISRA's Gun Rights Policy Conference(GRPC) in Rosemont being held this weekend. As of the last information, there are near 800 registered attendees so far. It is prominently displayed on the SAF and ISRA's websites w/ links to hotel information, agenda, speakers, etc. w/ alerts, tweets, the works going out for weeks. There are at least a half-a-dozen bloggers that I know of planning on live covering the event w/o even figuring in ISRA/SAF staff.

So why did the CSGV not promote their meeting? Was it invitation only or were they afraid that if they put up anything about it, more pro-rights advocates would attend than Anti's? Like when the Brady Campaign held a press conference and the only one who showed was an NRA news team.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Gov't Motors (GM)/OnStar Will Track Your Car All The Time

As if this should be a surprise to anyone:
Navigation-and-emergency-services company OnStar is notifying its six million account holders that it will keep a complete accounting of the speed and location of OnStar-equipped vehicles, even for drivers who discontinue monthly service.
Then they're going to give that data to the Gov't 'when requested' and sell it to credit card companies, telemarketers and anyone else they think they can make a buck from.

So anyone who thought that OnStar was only going to be used for 'emergency services', I told you so.

Brady Campaign, Now Officially Irrelevant in DC

Since they've shed most of their lobbyists and can't afford to donate much to political campaigns anymore, they're now declaring that anyone who takes money is a 'shill'.

Their new president must be a masochist since he/she's going to suffer a lot of pain trying to do anything w/ the inmates running that asylum.

Some Stupid Can Be Duct-taped

An article in the Ft Wayne, IN Journal-Gazette (home of former Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke) paints the end of the world as we know it of Nat'l CCW Reciprocity passes:
A bill under consideration in Congress, H.R. 822, would supersede Indiana laws and require every state to honor other states’ gun-carrying permits... The proposal would require Indiana to honor the permits of people from other states who may not meet those minimal standards.
You know. The usual PSH. But, just like North Carolina (which the NCGV squeals about), Indiana ALREADY recognizes all other CCW permits.

But that would be a bit much to be asking journalists to do a little bit of research before repeating a gun control talking point.

Some IllinoisCarry folks contacted the paper and they printed a 'clarification':
A Furthermore editorial published Friday did not accurately explain how H.R. 822, if adopted, would affect Indiana. The proposed federal law would require all states to honor gun licenses issued to residents of other states, but because Indiana already honors other states’ gun permits, its effect on the Hoosier state would be minimal.
So not a 'fix' since I'm sure the base level of support for inane gun control is still w/ the authorized journalists but this is some duct-tape on it.

Guns in Church? Why Would We Need That?

LAKELAND, Fla. — As the congregation bowed their heads and prayed, a former church member stormed into the church and opened fire, shooting and wounding the pastor and associate pastor from behind before he was wrestled to the ground.
LinkBut remember, gun control advocates tell us that having a gun to defend yourself in a church is paranoid and crazy. I'll bet it was a 'gun free zone' as well.

Weekend Wildlife

Been awhile since I've done one of these. My last camera crapped out on me so I just got the replacement last week.

Checking to see if the new camera is set up right.

No 'wildlife' but I just really like this shot.

Deer. Lots of them.

Me and 4thpower Alpha picking it up yesterday. We barely made it as the ATV started giving us problems. Not sure yet what the problem is.
