We've all heard this rhetoric before. While he may have 'grown up around guns' as well as hunts and fishes, he has fallen for the classic lie promoted by the VPC and other gun control groups therefore confusing him on what a 'semi-automatic gun' really is:
The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weaponsanything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine guncan only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.Semi-auto: One pull of the trigger. One bullet. That's it.
And when you hear about 'AK-47 Assault Weapons' in the news, odds are good it's just a semi-auto, civilian legal clone, no different than any other semi-auto rifle except in appearance.
For mine, I have 5rnd, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 75 round magazines. The ones I use most often are the 5 rnd's for sighting in and the 20 rnd ones for target shooting. I don't hunt.
If he doesn't like them, that's fine. Everyone has their preferences. But make sure you know what you're talking about before stating it on national television. Here's your sign.

If the gun haters had their way, wouldn't Mr. Engvall be surprised when a government type showed up to pick up his "sniper rifle". Here's your sign Mr. Engvall
Friend,
Don't let them suck you into the hunting, target shooting trap. The founding fathers did not insist that we have the right to bear arms so that we shoot squirrels or fend off burglars. They fought for that right so that we could defend ourselves from OUR GOVERNMENT:
