I haven’t posted in awhile because I’m trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Helmke’s departure from the BC was the final clue that tied everything together. I predicted quite some time ago that the puppet masters would toss him under the bus and replace him with someone younger and less stupid. My guess was Colin Goddard back then and that may still prove true but, it goes deeper than that.
Something else is going on behind the scenes.
Rule #1 of trying to get inside the minds of those whose brains work totally opposite of your own is to look at what they say versus what they do. That’s easy enough for most to prove them hypocrites of the highest order.
The next step is to appreciate that what they say in public is a SEVERLY watered down version of what they talk about amongst themselves in private.
Many, many moons since Helmke said, “What we’re doing now isn’t working.”
Bit of an understatement but absolutely true and a rare window into their strategy.
The Brady Bunch is trying to adapt. After Helmke got his ass spanked by the screen door as he was leaving, he was asked about his greatest accomplishments and his greatest regrets.
He said his greatest accomplishment was that he had his face in the MSM a lot and that his greatest regret was that he failed to build a true grassroots movement to counter us.
My God, I love hearing the truth.
So here it is, folks.
The Brady Bunch will still throw everything at the wall to see what sticks; they just can’t help it. But, they are recognizing that the true power of the “ebil gun lobby” is our grass-roots support base who do all the crap we do in our spare time.
They will be investing their limited resources into trying to build a true grass-roots movement which can challenge us in passion.
MARK MY WORDS.
You will see it soon.

Pretty trenchant observation, I think.
It's not just the Brady Bunch, either. Our good buddy Ladd actually came out and admitted the forcible citizen disarmament lobby's weakness in the grassroots passion field to Time Magazine:
More importantly, says Ladd Everitt of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, they have cultivated a committed corps of "single-issue voters" — people who reliably trek to the polls to cast a ballot for the candidate who will go to the mat for their right to bear arms. "We have not been able, to the degree we need, to develop a single-issue public-safety vote," Everitt says. "That is our challenge."
Their delusion is the notion that they'll ever assemble an electorally useful-sized "corps of 'single-issue voters'" devoted to the suppression of Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human rights.
If that is their strategy, I don't think it will work. It's one thing to get people to answer yes to gun control on a poll; it's another to get people to put on jackboots and devote their lives to stomping on the faces of their fellow citizens. It requires a serious mental defect to actually hate millions of people and want to deny them their rights, often for reasons as ridiculous as "they have small penises."
A better strategy, from the standpoint of the totalitarians, would be to work hard to get as many Democrats elected as possible and keep quiet about gun control, until after they have both houses of Congress again, as well as the White House. Frankly, I can't believe they didn't go for broke in 2010-2012. I guess it was Obama's beta male personality.
Says Ken:

Nailed it, Ken.
Well done.
The only beneficiaries of the victim disarmament movement are criminals. So if you take the entirety of the International Criminals Union, and exclude all the convicted felons (ineligible to vote), that leaves you with a small voting bloc.
However, as we've seen, far too many elected officials, appointees, and bureaucrats are ex officio members of the International Criminals Union.
If nobody can overcome the incredible odds they stack in their favor to stay in power indefinitely, they will continue to wield their power to infringe the right to self-defense into oblivion and put countless people into early graves and the hospital - the only possible consequence of "gun control".
The way that politics are shaping up, it looks like 2012 is going to be the year that the immovable object meets the irresistible force.
It could still be disappointing for us, and in some ways it is likely to be, but the force is with us now, and if it persists, then the day after Election Day is going to be a sadder day for the anti's than what they are experiencing now. They are sad.
Look at the "HOPE" they had for Obama. He's given them an additional long gun reporting form (and CCW in national parks). Instead of gun control, he hands the NRA, Gunwalker, which might yet result in his impeachment, and has gun owners and lots of other people angry about him arming the Reconquista, and that's on top of him turning a blind eye to illegal immigration and refusing to build the border fence - he's been a "one stop shopping" solution for illegals. Easy entry? Check. No fence? Check. Want a gun? Check. I'm surprised that he hasn't proposed cross-border, high-speed train service for illegals - I guess he's saving that for his second term.

Except that there are a lot of pro-gun Democrats just as there are anti-gun republicans. I don't think they could ever get a majority again. People aren't going to be electing a lot of anti's. The people that vote have come to understand that a anti-gun vote is just the first step. We aren't ready to live in a place like North Korea.
Ken, I think he considered Obamacare his primary, and after that move on to banning things. I think he really believed he could just sweep his health-care crap through, and the strength of the resistance threw him off his timetable and screwed with his confidence.
Then you had lots of Democrats who remember what gun control did to them once before, and they looked at how organized we are now and- VERY important- what a megaphone we have now to yell at them and warn other people, and I think a huge number of them were flat scared to push for bans and licensing and so forth.
Ken is missing something. If you take a mob and give them a patina of authority, they will happily run out and commit any atrocity you ask them to.
Words like "vigilante", "jihad", and "Kristallnacht" come to mind.
Hmnn...let's see. Fast and Furious starts general timeline--
http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/gun-running-timeline-how-doj-s-operation
The President meets with James and Sarah Brady on March 30, 2011 and says we are working on it under the radar....is F&F as a legitimate Administration initiative, I don't know maybe..
The F&F hearings start to really heat up on May 3, 2011 with Holder getting called in.
Paul Helmke gets booted and runs off into the night on June, 24 2011, on a Friday. If bad things are happening the Administration will roll them out on a Friday, let the Sunday talk shows soften the blow and close the loop on Monday.
On June 27th, after a week of soft peddling a scape goat, Acting ATF Director Melson, he finds out via a press conference that he may or may not have a job....and the saga continues.
July 6 2011, Issa and Grasley blast Holder in a letter as the fire gets turned up on the frog pot.
I think a reasonable person would roll out the timeline and go hmmnnn. See if and when Holder met with AZ US Attorney Dennis Burke. See if Holder met with Melson to get the story straight at which time, Melson may have affirmed or denied his desire to take the fall.
Then one would really want to dig into Paul Helmke's (and other gun grabbing advocates) comings and goings potentially with mid-level DOJ or AFT folks. Heck the hub of this operation or at least its outline may have been developed when the President ran the Joyce Foundation.
Thing that make you hmmnn..
