What I Did On My Labor Day Weekend

My friend who picked up his S&W last weekend came over for a day of putting lead downrange

While this wasn't his first time shooting, it was the first time he got to really have fun and experience various types of firearms.
He's hooked. Of course I wasn't going to be left out.
.The kids got a chance to practice w/ their Daisy Rifles, we grilled, and spent most of the day BS'ing about guns, politics. and life in general. I keep forgetting how much fun it is to turn expired cans/cups/jars of food into targets. Jello cups explode nicely when hit w/ a .22.

It was a good day.

Tomorrow back to the grind.

Not so Funny Funnies

Mike Peters, creater of the Mother Goose and Grimm comic, has apparently decided to inject some politics into the story line. All last week were hit pieces on the recent bill allowing CCW in some national parks. It's to bad that talented individuals like this can't keep different aspects of their life separate.

Since I don't feel like dealing w/ lawyers, the comics are here, starting at 8/31/09.

Crack in the Dam

Van Jones, one of Obama's (admitted) resident communist, truther, and racist, has resigned and the Obamabots are in a tizzy.

It couldn't be that Jones actually was a raving lunatic in his political beliefs, no, no, it's because anyone opposing Obama want to destroy the Earth with chemicals and can't stand the thought of a black man in office.

These are the same people who were digging through "Joe the Plumber's" trash and hacking into Palin's E-mail in order to find anything at all to discredit them. Now they're unhappy when the 'extremists' on the other side use the same tactics.

Magick Number 50

Remember how IANSA pushed a bill to only allow civilians to purchase 50 rnds/year in Brazil? It seems the legislators in California really liked that number with their own plan to restrict ammo.

Via NRA-ILA:
Sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB962 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require that purchasers submit to fingerprinting, which would be kept in dealers' records and subject to inspection by the Department of Justice. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited.
Restrictions, licensing, registration, fingerprinting. None of which will stop a single crime by actual criminals.

Why the Confusion on Assault Weapons II?

Because even those enforcing the law have no clue what they're talking about...

- Bushmaster AK-47, model XM15E2S, .223 caliber;
- Olympic Arms AR-15, .223 caliber;
- Llama, model 38 super, 38 caliber;
- Misa, model AD-47, .762 x 39 caliber; and
- Smith & Wesson, model .445 Super Mag, .45 caliber.

No surprise coming from the state that banned 'CM-55' and 'H-93' Assault Weapons.

I'm sorry

For all those who read my previous post, it was all a big joke.

My post and my reaction to any comments were for my own entertainment. Everything is false. Everything is wrong.

Fact is, I don't know of any failed marriages and everything is unicorn farts and marshmallow rainbows.

Those who score above the retard level in any IQ test can relate to my confession.

I was wrong and I was wrong and I was wrong to even post this fabrication to begin with.

Please forvive me, I was simply trying to do the right thing and got a bit side-tracked.

On a totally unrelated note, people who work in Human Resources have no sense of humor and have, what I can surmise, a large pool of bile where their brains should be.

If I see you in the unemplyment line, a simple head nod will suffice.

Nika ticky memaloose kopa halo poo muskets tintin nika tintin,

Suck on it FBI/ATF, you can't properly translate a ground swell against you.

Jumping on the Bandwagon

In an expansion of his 'study' on gun shows which uses the same methodology as "Up-skirt" photographers, anti-gun advocate Wintemute has decided to jump on the "Right Wing Extremist" bandwagon in order to try and get someone to pay attention to him.

How many arrests and/or convictions came from his last report on 'undocumented illegal gun transactions'?

How many will come from this one?

How many lawsuits is Wintemute now open to for potential libel and unauthorized use of people's images?

More from Tam and Uncle.

They're not after your guns. Really.

Why, the Brady Campaign says they only want 'reasonable, common-sense' gun regulations. Why even Rebecca Peters of IANSA states they're not a 'gun ban organization':
" Gun control, we’re not talking about banning all guns. We know that guns are not going to be banned outright, but “moderate gun control” means people who own guns should have to have a license. Guns should be registered. It means ensuring that certain categories of guns are not available to private citizens or to people who haven’t had particular training and who are not subject to military or official discipline.
and
"We recognise that hunting, for example, plays an important role in many cultures.
We recognise that target shooting is also a sport in many countries."
That's comforting. They're not after our guns. But wait. Rebecca also said this about target shooters and hunters in England:
“I’m sad for you. I suppose if you miss your sport, take up another sport. Take up a sport that does not require a weapon invented for the sole and specific purpose of killing another human being.”
We also all know what she said about what kind of 'hunting rifles' should be allowed.

Well those statements are pretty contradictory, aren't they? Maybe she just was confused. Let's take a look at the IANSA website to see what kind of 'common-sense' regulations' the do support.
Brazilian gun referendum approaches: a historic opportunity to make people safer from gun violence
Oh, well that's OK. We all want to make people safer. Let's read some more...
On 23 October 2005, Brazilians will be able to vote in a radical referendum that is without precedent in the world: to choose if civilians should be allowed to buy guns.
Wait a minute here. IANSA organized and supported a campaign to BAN ALL CIVILIAN SALES OF FIREARMS.

But that's not really a 'ban' right? You can still keep the ones you have (for now). You can just never sell, transfer, or effectively use it and it will be destroyed when you die or decide to get rid of it.

LEt's look at a few of the other measures that went along w/ the bill besides the referendum.

Obigatory National Firearms database
universal registration w/ renewals at least every three years
Demonstrated 'need' for a firearms.
Psychological tests.
'Competency' tests.
Ammo Serialization
Ammo limitations to 50 rnds/yr.
Ban on toy guns
Gun 'Buybacks'

Why those are the same kinds of laws the Brady Campaign wants passed here in the US.

But they're two distinct and separate organizations, right?

Right?

Why the Confusion on Assault Weapons?

Most of us are familiar w/ the oft cited statement by Josh Sugarman of the VPC:

"The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons."

How is this confusion encouraged? Let's take a look at some campaign literature from Brady Campaign endorsed Illinois Representatives Kathy Ryg (now resigned) and Naomi Jakobsson (who also sponsored the local ammo encoding bill).

Assassinations? Legal in Illinois? Nope.

Terrorists? Armor-piercing firepower? Nice scary phrasing.
Military assault weapons? Wait. First it was "Assault Rifle". Why the change?

"Gun Show Loophole"? Of which there wasn't one since all legal sales in Illinois require the possession of a FOID card which IS a universal background check unless the police aren't doing their job.

Nice picture of a Browning M2 Machinegun and associated info. This has to do w/ the topic how? Oh, right, more intentional misdirection.

Hey, that looks a little different from the 'Sniper Rifle" pictured above. Of course the other gun, a real machine gun, is NOT legally available in Illinois. But what's a little dishonesty during a campaign right?
More of those scary words and Brady Campaign talking points.

So are people like these ignorant, confused, or deliberately lying to their constituency?

Either way, this is one of the ways that this myth is kept alive. Since the Brady Campaign endorsed these individuals, they are directly complicit in spreading these distortions which graphically puts into perspective their claims of only wanting 'reasonable common sense' laws.
