"Pass my butget or I'll lay off police", whines Rod
Gov. Rod Blagojevich is threatening to lay off 1,800 of the state's roughly 2,000 Illinois State Police troopers in January unless lawmakers approve key budget legislation soon.
The threat, however, was viewed as yet another pressuring tactic by Blagojevich in a year filled with discord between the governor and his political nemesis, House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago.
You know, I kind of hope that the legislature continues to delay just to call Rod on this threat. Let's see him go through with it. Come on Gov. Show where your priorities are.

Well, not like it will give you a particularly good warm-and-fuzzy, the US Government does it every year with the military. If they do not pass a budget by the end of the fiscal year (which, by the way, they are not technically required to do), the military stops getting a paycheck.
It has actually transpired that the military exchanges would not take the checks of servicemembers because the operators knew of the situation.
Gotta love modern politics.
