Ignorance or Lies: They Just Can't Help Themselves

The Illinois Council against Handgun Ownership comes out w/ the standard message in response to the AZ shooting. The typical 'NRA/Guns Bad' routine. And, as we've seen to become the default claim , they state:
From 1994 to 2004, those types of clips were banned in this country.
No. Again this is a complete fabrication (even ignoring the terminology error). There are only two choices ( a third if you combine them).

A. They're Lying

B. They're Ignorant

We've seen both coming from the gun control groups. Even their leadership. They have no idea what they're talking about most of the time and when the correct information is given to them, they dismiss it and continue w/ their claims.

Weekend Wildlife

Most of the herd has moved on. Last weekend there was a whopping one photo of an empty field. This week only had a few.

Is this thing even on?

One of only two does that seem to have stuck around.

'Spike' is still hanging around as well.

"Hi-Cap" Magazine Ban 'Logic'

Regular citizens are not trained and are poor shots so they only need a limited of rounds to protect themselves.

The police need to shoot as many people as possible as quickly as possible so they need as much ammo as possible because they are highly trained professionals.

Huh?

They Should Ask Themselves Why..

The President of the Joyce Foundation , the group that provides the funding for the majority of gun control in the US laments:
Over the past decade, I have watched gun-violence prevention fade from philanthropy’s agenda.
There's a reason for that. It's because 'gun control', as they portray it, has no effect on crime. Crime was at its highest during the heyday of passing more, useless legislation while it decreased when this legislation went away and more progressive laws were enacted.

Causality? No.

But most groups realized that dumping $145K into he likes of Josh Sugarmann's pockets each year got them nothing but poorly written Huffpo screeds and 'reports' using Google searches.

The Joyce's realize that and are worried that they'll just keep dumping money into that pit so they'll use the Tucson shooting as long as they can before the media moves on to the next Lady Gaga outfit.

Avoiding the Question 'Why?

Our flavor of the day asked for some stats on crime rates in Canada and Illinois when it was pointed out that firearm crime rates decreased in proportion to overall crime rates in Canada and Chicago has 5x the murder rate of the rest of the state of Illinois, especially focused in certain neighborhoods.

I asked "So did firearm laws cause a decrease in non-firearm crimes?" and "Why does Chicago boast a 5x higher homicide rate than the rest of the state?"

Well the first question was completely ignored. His response to the second was:
Chicago has been a particularly violent city. But the guns used in crime there have been traced back to sources outside of Chicago and into neighboring states. Weaker regulation in those areas is the real downfall of Chicago, making ineffective the strict gun laws there (not as strict now, of course). It'll be interesting to follow the statistics following the recent legal changes there.
Yep, it's all the gun's fault. Apparently they have some sort of mind control that particularly effects Chicago residents in comparison to the rest of the residents of the state where firearms are legal and common.

So I asked again. Why is there such a disparity? What makes Chicago so violent they need to smuggle in guns? Let's see if we get an answer or it it's avoided again.

Reports are CA Ammo Ban Ruled Unconstitutional in Court!!!

COURT GRANTS NRA / CRPA FOUNDATION MOTION, INVALIDATES UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMMUNITION REGULATION STATUTE THAT WOULD HAVE BANNED MAIL ORDER AMMO SALES & REQUIRED AMMO SALES REGISTRATION

In a dramatic ruling giving gun owners a win in an National Rifle Association / California Rifle and Pistol (CRPA) Foundation lawsuit, this morning Fresno Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Hamilton ruled that AB 962, the hotly contested statute that would have banned mail order ammunition sales and required all purchases of so called “handgun ammunition” to be registered, was unconstitutionally vague on its face. The Court enjoined enforcement of the statute, so mail order ammunition sales to California can continue unabated, and ammunition sales need not be registered under the law....

Hopefully this is true.

UPDATE: CalGunLaws is reporting it as factual.

UnPossible School Shooting

By a 10th Grade (alleged) gang banger in Los Angeles. Had a gun in his backpack and dropped the pack causing the gun to fire.

Good thing California has all those strict gun laws and is #1/A rated by gun control groups. Obviously this story is made up

Yeah, Illinois Will Be Last

SayUncle reports that Wisconsin is likely to pass concealed carry soon after the new batch of politicians get their seats warm.

In Illinois, the Chicago Machine still controls the head positions in the Legislature and Quinn remains Governor.

Even w/ numerous CCW bills and other pro-rights legislation already hitting the floor, I don't see it happening.

QOTD

Apologize this is a paraphrase and I can't relocate the comment in the fog of HuffPo. It was a response to Peter King's idiocy.

"You got it completely backwards. We should pass a law making it illegal for govenment officials from coming within 1000 feet of our guns."

Damn straight.

"our sick gun culture" ?

That's a phrase our flavor of the day uses several times in response to op ed's in papers. His goal, he claims, is to "put better restrictions on gun access".

So far the 'New Trajectory' is the same misfires we've seen from other gun control advocates. He's repeated the Kellerman "22x more likely" myth, has no idea about the connections for his own organization that he's promoting, and relies exclusively on gun control org. produced 'statistics'.

His real motives and beliefs come clear in his earlier posts:
No home with children should have a gun, even if it's locked up
This is what he has to say about the NRA:
If you disagree with Mr. LaPierre and others who run organizations that support violence,
Yep. What we're seeing is another Anti who knows little to nothing about firearms and can't (or chooses not to) distinguish between the 'Gun Culture' and the Criminal culture. He encourages ignorance and the fear of firearms in his children. I educate mine.

He brings up a case of some kids 'accidentally' shooting one of their friends. Take a look at these kids of the same age at an Appleseed event. Guess which ones are less likely to pick up a gun, point it at someone and start pulling the trigger for 'fun'?

If he really wants to ' find common ground', then maybe he should have started by not opening w/ direct attacks on firearm owners.

Joyce Foundation Funding, Lucky Timing

Even though the Violence Policy Center took another funding cut of $85,000 for the year from their financiers at the Joyce Foundation, the Tucson, AZ shooting couldn't have come at a better time for groups that suckle at that teat.

Just last month, they distributed over $1.2 million between 4 different groups so there's plenty of cash to throw around right now on advertising, 'research' and, in Josh Sugarmann and Kristin Rand's case, payroll.
