3 acquitted in beating of cop at wedding

The family of a groom accused of teaming up with his brother and his cousin to beat up an Orland Park cop at a wedding were celebrating Thursday night after all three men were cleared of the attack.

But after claiming that Andrew, George and Jason Terrell left him in fear of his life during the four-minute-long brawl at Silver Lake Country Club on March 18 2006, it was the professional reputation of 21-year veteran officer Pete Diangi that took a beating at the Bridgeview courthouse, with Judge David Sterba ruling that Diangi's "very aggressive" actions were to blame for the ugly scene that left the Terrells' big day in ruins.

The melee started when Diangi challenged Jason Terrell in a corridor for allegedly supplying underage drinkers at the wedding, leaving Diangi with cuts and bruises and a torn shirt. Diangi, who was working plainclothes security at Andrew Terrell's wedding to Melissa Schultz at the upscale golf club, was "doing his duty," Sterba said.

But by failing to properly identify himself as a police officer or security guard, Diangi was responsible for the ensuing chaos, Sterba said.

While other "Only Ones" may be responsible for a murder due to protecting one of their own.

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - Eighteen times in two years, Bolingbrook police were called to fellow officer Drew Peterson's home because of trouble between husband and wife. But Peterson's wife could never get authorities to arrest him. In fact, she was the only one ever charged...

Vicki Connolly, Peterson's second wife, has said that during their marriage, an increasingly controlling Peterson hit her and told her he could kill her and make it look like an accident.

Connolly said police sometimes came to the house when the couple were having problems, but she said the officers were friends of theirs and no reports ever were filed.

They are the ones screaming that local ordinances should be allowed. But apparently only if those ordinances are anti-gun. As a matter of fact, they reduce the grade of states that don't allow localities to creates "stronger" laws.

They are also now calling for the complete banning of gun shows. No more "100% background check"and "loophole" lies. They finally admit the truth of what they want.

He wonders Where's the humor again? and states "Gun violence isn't funny". That's right Paul, it isn't. In a twist of irony, you use the emotional appeal of VT again. Virginia Tech was a "Gun Free" zone which empowered Cho and created those 32 victims you regularly gnash your teeth about.

Uncle has more. He also notes that Gonzo of the "Gun Guys" ( a real paid lobbyist shill, note that Ms. Washington) is also squealing about the debate, whining that they're "pandering to the gun extremists".

I'll ask again. How many candidates, leading, trailing, or otherwise, are begging the Brady Campaign, or any anti-gun group for that matter, for their endorsement?

Why would that be? Oh, right, because us "gun extremists" outnumber the "anti-gun extremists" 100:1. Even on their own web sites. That's called pandering to your constituency.

TO Sebastian also notes that it's not an AK-47 like Paul claims and is even CA AWB legal. He must be the resource CBS and CNN use for their anti-gun rants.

And he brings up the usual PuSH'er lies of the NG = the militia, Miller = "collective rights", Right of the People = a privilege, "Assault Weapons" = Fully autos', scawwy .50 cals, etc.

The DNC has launched FlipperTV to try and catch GOP candidates in flip-flops and flubs. On one video, Romney is asked about his support for the AWB and a GOP fund-raising machinegun shoot. He then starts rambling about Uzi's and other machine guns.

Apparently his "easing gun regulations" does not mean "assault weapons".

So, just like most politicians, he's a lying piece of crap that will say anything to get elected.

Erasing the Second Amendment....

Paul's IT elves, in their constant effort to cover up their lack of support on the web, have posted another rant berating the DC appeals court for erasing the first 13 words of the 2A.

That sent up red flags in my memory so I started to do some searching. I found nothing but the nagging memory was still there. I knew I remembered something about it so I sent out requests to the Blogosphere. TO Sebastian came through w/ his strong Google-Fu. Dennis Hanigan, spokesman for the Brady Campaign, erased "People" when quoting the amendment. Telling isn't it.

And here's the really fun part. The associated link on the Brady Website is no longer active and just keeps sending you back to the front page. The YouTube video is also gone. Just to make sure, I got a screen cap of it:



Proving once again that they are complete and total hypocrites in their anti-gun bigotry.

They seem to forget. They've spouted off so many lies and so much nonsense, that whatever they say, we'll have counters to. Many of us work together and we use our resources to support our cause. We don't just rely on taglines and meme's provided from one group, unlike the majority of the Brady supporters.

With obvious purpose to assure the continuation and render possible the effectiveness of such forces [i.e., the "well regulated Militia,"] the declaration and guarantee of the Second Amendment were made. It must be interpreted and applied with that end in view.

The decision was based on the fact that there was no evidence presented and the lack of knowledge of military firearms by the justices as shotguns were regularly issued:

Either way, that means Paul accepts the fact that military firearms are protected under the 2A and that the Miller court clearly stated :

These show plainly enough that the Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. 'A body of citizens enrolled for military discipline.' And further, that ordinarily when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time.

Yet, as is usual for the PuSH'ers, they are lying to themselves and the public. They specifically want to ban "Assault Weapons" which, according to them:

The guns covered by the Assault Weapons Act were semiautomatic versions of fully automatic guns designed for military use.

and

The military features of semiautomatic assault weapons are designed to enhance their capacity to shoot multiple targets very rapidly.

So they're saying that "Assault Weapons" fit the Purpose Clause yet they are still trying to ban them.

What do they say about .50 cal rifles?

Once again, these seem to fit the Purpose Clause like a glove.

So, the Brady Campaign is saying that the Militia, when properly armed, are a threat to public safety. That means that they are opposed to the basic founding principles of this nation. Not that that really comes as a surprise to anyone.

Obviously she didn't do a thorough thesis.

But politicians listen to their constituents and won't vote the gun interests if they see that people are fed up with the carnage wrought by weak regulation. (CNN) -- The Brazilian government is investigating the case of a 15-year-old girl who allegedly was raped and tortured after being put in a prison cell with 20 male inmates, officials said.

The girl -- who said she was forced to have sex for food and suffered burns and other abuse -- has denounced police in the small town of Abaetetuba for keeping her in the cell.

She is now in a witness protection program...

The victim -- who has been identified only by her initials, L.A.B. -- was jailed for attempted theft, and was sent to a police station in Abaetetuba, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the provincial capital of Belem, according to the O Liberal newspaper.

She remained in custody for about three weeks.

After receiving an anonymous phone call, two social workers tried to visit the girl in jail, but police barred them from doing so, the newspaper reported.

The girl's father, who is also in a witness protection program, told reporters police asked him to forge the girl's birth certificate, but he refused. He said police threatened him and even questioned his paternity rights.


Catch that? Three weeks this girl was held. Not a few minutes, not a few hours, but weeks. And the authorities , including several female officials involved in the case, have threatened the family since they talked. Yet Ms. Rebecca Peters thinks that this type of government is should be the "only ones" w/ the ability to project force of any kind.

Dear Illinois Brady Campaign Member,

Requiring background checks on all handgun purchasers is just common sense. So why did State Representative Elga Jeffries vote to block background check legislation (HB 758) earlier this year?

Because the gun lobby told her to.

Her “NO” vote on HB 758 helped kill legislation that her constituents in Chicago and Illinois citizens overwhelmingly support. Rep. Jeffries thinks pleasing the NRA is more important than protecting public safety. Rep. Jeffries had a chance to do the right thing but she blew it.

And why does Paul have a hard-on against her? Because she was a co-sponsor of the legislation and voted against it after an outpouring of opposition from her constituency. But the Brady's would rather blame wheel-barrows of money instead of accepting the fact that the populace doesn't support them.

"Guns make them more violent"

The refrain heard from the PuSH'ers as if firearms contain the implanted microchips that emit mind control powers. Of course as I've pointed out earlier, it's those very hoplophobes that advocate implanting chips into children "for their own safety".

None of it, however, explains the recent spate of assaults and murders in Chicago using fire. No guns were involved. Burning someone is a lot more hostile than shooting someone.

So hoplophobes, should we register and restrict matches?

News photographer in Iraq accused of insurgent ties

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military says it has "convincing and irrefutable" evidence that an award-winning Associated Press photographer is connected to the insurgency in Iraq.

The photographer, Bilal Hussein Zaidon, faces charges in the Iraqi Central Court based on the evidence, Pentagon officials said Monday.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell and other U.S. military officials would not say directly what charges he faced. They referred reporters to the Iraqi court system.

But now they care about people's rights being abused:

AP chief executive officer and president Tom Curley said the agency has "grave concerns" that Hussein's rights are being "ignored and even abused" and called on the United States to release the photographer.

"The steps the U.S. military is now taking continue to deny Bilal his right to due process and, in turn, may deny him a chance at a fair trial," Curley said. "The treatment of Bilal represents a miscarriage of the very justice and rule of law that the United States is claiming to help Iraq achieve."

Kind of like when CBS or CNN invent stories about firearms and blame NRA members for aiding criminals. But when it's one of their own accused of helping kill US soldiers, it's a different tune.

Interceptor Vs Dragonskin

The controversy continues. While Interceptor isn't perfect, Pinnacle's claims that Dragonskin was NIJ certified (even before it was) kept the arguement alive that the Army was just being putzes. While I can recognize that (ie the choice of ACU's for the new camouflage in comparison to something that works), Dragonskin seemed just to hyped up for me to believe the claims.

NIJ, OJP's research, development, and evaluation component, has reviewed evidence provided by the body armor manufacturer and has determined that the evidence is insufficient to demonstrate that the body armor model will maintain its ballistic performance over its six-year declared warranty period.

Bureau warns on tainted discs

Portable hard discs sold locally and produced by US disk-drive manufacturer Seagate Technology have been found to carry Trojan horse viruses that automatically upload to Beijing Web sites anything the computer user saves on the hard disc, the Investigation Bureau said.

Around 1,800 of the portable Maxtor hard discs, produced in Thailand, carried two Trojan horse viruses: autorun.inf and ghost.pif, the bureau under the Ministry of Justice said.

The tainted portable hard disc uploads any information saved on the computer automatically and without the owner's knowledge to www.nice8.org and www.we168.org, the bureau said.

The affected hard discs are Maxtor Basics 500G discs.

Finally recognizing that it's not urban white males shooting up their neighborhoods, Englewood and other Chicago residents start looking at the gang-bangers and their lack of mores:

The monthly rallies were of no help to Betty Johnson. On Monday, neighborhood hoodlums, reportedly upset because they could not find a weapon they secretly stashed on her property, fired six .45 caliber bullets into Johnson's house.

"They shot my back bedroom up. My second grandson's room up and they shot my bedroom up. And then they shot this one up," Johnson said.

Her 21-year-old grandson, Steven Lyons, a City College student, was killed in his bedroom.

"They killed my child who was sitting there doing his homework and getting prepared for the next day, to continue to do the right thing," said Sabrina Friends-Lyons, victim's mother.

And the rallies have not paid off in the Back of the Yards neighborhood where a pregnant mother of three children was shot to death Halloween night. Mayor Daley scolded residents for not helping police find the woman's killer.

"You know who did it The police can't find it. It is up to the community," said the mayor.

But police concede many residents are afraid of their own children. And they say parents who need the message spread at anti-violence rallies are not hearing it.

"Unless the parents present it to their children, then I don't think it's going to help. The family. It has to start in the family and the household," said Commander Joe Patterson, Chicago Police Department Englewood District...

People literally are begging the gang members and gun criminals for a ceasefire, but they just keep firing away.

There you go folks, it has nothing to do with people wanting to own firearms for sport, defense, or hunting. It has to do with sociopathic criminals who desire them to commit more violence, not guns making them more violent. They don't care about anyone else but themselves. Not their friends. The creation of online scammers, she's trying to trick unsuspecting Internet users into helping the scammers break the online barriers that banks and e-mail services set up to thwart crooks.The striptease is the latest attempt to defeat so-called CAPTCHA systems, which is short for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Those safeguards require users to prove they are human by reading wavy, oddly shaped jumbles of letters and numbers that appear in an image and typing them out.

In the new scam, an icon of an alluring woman suddenly appears on a Windows computer infected by a virus. After clicking on the icon, the user sees a photo of an attractive woman who vows to take off an article of clothing each time the jumble of figures next to her is entered.

But the woman never fully undresses, and after several passwords are entered the program restarts, possibly enticing unsuspecting users into trying again.

Ten students in a secondary school in the United Kingdom are being tracked through RFID implants in their school uniforms in a pilot program. Information Week reports that the kids attend Hungerhill School for ages 11-16 in Edenthorpe, England.

Add the RFID chips to increased video surveillance and fingerprinting of kids, and this is a heavily tracked generation—for safety's sake.

That extra peace of mind for adults comes with a heavy loss of privacy for kids. Do you agree with David Clouter, a parent and founder of the children's advocacy group Leave Them Kids Alone, who says taking all these precautions has the effect of treating kids like criminals? Or do you agree with the parents who have OKed the pilot program who do not find it egregiously intrusive?

The high school students all spent weeks working overtime toward the same goal: to produce a trebuchet capable of catapulting a pumpkin across a field at Rockome Gardens in Arcola.

A trebuchet is a weapon used in medieval times to attack European castles. It is similar to a catapult, except the trebuchet uses weights for launching instead of a spring, said Mike Reynolds, Arthur High School construction teacher.

Now according to the PuSH'ers, this will encourage kids to become violent and lead to an increase of drive buy trebucheting's in Central Illinois. We must ban Assault Catapults and close the Mangonel Loophole.

When Katherine "Katie" Nadal took her 5-week old son to the hospital on March 13, 2007, and claimed that the family's Dachshund had attacked her child, the dog was taken into custody by the police and examined by a licensed veterinarian with the City of Houston's Animal Control Department.

Suspicion turned upon Ms. Nadal after the veterinarian examined the dog, "Shorty," and photographs of the baby's grievous injuries. The baby's genitals had been completely severed. The police were advised that no blood or human tissue was on the animal or in its mouth. The doctor concluded that the dog could not have caused the injuries.

The only good news from this:

The puppy that Nadal blamed for the attack has since been released and adopted.

9/11 Memorial & Museum

Over the weekend, my company did a road trip to see the traveling 9/11 memorial exibit. It's purpose is to gather funds for the site to be developed at the location of the World Trade Center. It brought back some sobering memories. I have a slightly different perspective on it than others as I had just lost my father several days before to an industrial accident so was already in a state of numbed shock. Still, it made me feel similar to my visits to the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor.

Fight and Vote, but not hunt in Ohio

According to some Democrats in Ohio, individuals between the ages of 18 and 20 are old enough to fight and die for their country as well as participate in the electoral process to decide the future of the country but hunting is apparently a more severe and complicated affair requiring supervision of "real" adults over the age of 21.

House Bill 354, sponsored by Rep. Barbara Boyd, D-Cleveland Heights, and Sandra Williams, D-Cleveland, prohibits anyone under 21-years-old from possessing a firearm. Under the bill, if an adult or youth who does not meet the age requirement plans to handle a firearm, he or she must do so in the presence of someone 21 or over. Licensed hunters who now take to the woods solo will have to bring a supervisor if the bill passes.

And of course it's all to "save the children", children being defined by the Brady Bunch.

A soldier, who was at the trials, said: "This technology is incredible. If I hadn't been present I wouldn't have believed it. I looked across the fields and just saw grass and trees - but in reality I was staring down the barrel of a tank gun."

How the technology works in a combat situation is very sensitive, but the MoD is believed to be testing a military jacket that works on the same principles. It is the type of innovation normally associated with James Bond, and the brains behind the latest technology is the MoD's very own "Q" - Professor Sir John Pendry, of Imperial College London. He said the only drawback was the reliability of the cameras and projectors. But he added: "The next stage is to make the tank invisible without them - which is intricate and complicated, but possible."

Euro Culture /= US Culture

I keep hearing from numerous Europeans that the US has more in common culturally w/ them than anywhere else so our crime problems must be due to guns. One thing they tend to ignore is that we are nowhere near as homogeneous as they are. Numerous countries (Germany, France, Switzerland, et al) are having political backlashes against those who refuse to assimilate whereas here, we have entire neighborhoods of cities that maintain their own indigenous societies and have for over a hundred years. Chinatowns being a prime example. This can also be related to the criminal sub-cultures. Most Western European criminals wouldn't think of killing someone over a prank or shooting up neighborhoods over a gang war, even in countries with relatively high firearm ownership levels. Russia, on the other hand, is demographically closer to the US with it's large variety of ethnic groups , has 1/10th the legal firearm ownership of the US according to the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies, and yet has five times the murder and suicide rate of the US. In the UK, even with firearms being effectively banned, school uniforms are being made "slash-proof" to protect against attacks.

So next time I hear that the US and Europe are nearly identical, I'm going to offer to drop them off in Cabrini Green or Englewood and see what they say if they come back.

DC Police to be deputized as Federal Agents

Giving them national arrest powers:

"As part of the program, several D.C. detectives will be deputized as ATF officers, allowing them to cross borders to investigate guns that end up in the District."

Remember though, it's all the gun's fault and not incompetence in the agencies:

So we're giving more authority to a department that can't even expedite basic paperwork. That makes sense.

Paid shills for the NRA?

According to "Wendigo" in the comments at this post, numerous pro-2A scholars are "paid schills" for the NRA. That's similar to Laura Washington's that the numerous gun blogs are somehow organized and funded by the NRA.

This is in comparison to Hemenway, VPC, HSPH, Gonzo, and the IACP, etc. whose "reports" are all funded by the Joyce Foundation, and the Brady Campaign who puts out their own.

So tell me folks, which ones are funded by the NRA? I'll wait.

A Schaumburg attorney who pleaded guilty last month to indecent solicitation of a child was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail.

William Murphy Jr., 33, was also ordered to serve 30 months of probation. He had faced up to 5 years in prison.

Assistant States Atty. Ken Tatarelis said that Murphy had communicated with an undercover police officer posing as a teenager for two months last year -- discussions that included sexual topics on seven occasions -- before asking to meet her on June 7, 2006. When he arrived at a Winfield park, police arrested him.

The excuse? He was unemployed and bored.

Must be good to have clout. Yes, the title is intentional.

The Rev. Jackson couldn't be bothered this time (it's not garnering enough attention nowadays) but Micheal "Snuffy"Pfleger attended. Apparently it's an infringement for the Gov't to ask for a fee to "peaceably assemble" but it's perfectly fine w/ completely restricting other rights:

"We are not paying money to gather in a peaceful assembly," he said. "If they don't want us there, they should vote Riverdale gun-free."

Riverdale should fine Pfleger but of course they won't. It's so much easier to go to a safe neighborhood to march than to try and protest in the areas controlled by the gangs. You know, the ones that are committing the crimes w/ guns.
