Went and saw the movie w/ various #powers. This is the latest in a string of CGI enhanced 'live-action' re-imaginings of classic fairy tales. This ones design heavily influenced by the Disney classic "Sleeping Beauty", especially that of Maleficent's costuming and the three fairies.
Two highlights of this movie was the performance of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent and the visualizations throughout the movie. Jolie overshadowed every other performer in the film and you can tell she really got into the classic part. The rest of the actors were mediocre to wooden. The scenery and CGI was beautiful. If you're going to imagine a fairy land, this is pretty close to what you would get.
The modernized story was above average and very 'Disney'. Entertaining but formulaic although it is very much a departure from the original animated film. I definitely enjoyed it and it was worth a theater trip. Likely will pick this one up when it comes out on DVD.
