In 1993, Senator Moynihan proposed that the Federal government tax ammunition, with a 10,000 percent tax on the deadliest projectiles. The gun lobby called his proposal laughable, and it went nowhere, but it is an idea worth revisiting. Instead of taxing ammunition, we might consider a more market-driven alternative: charging the ammunition industry for the costs incurred when their products are used to kill or maim people.Isn't that ingenious? Let's take an idea that went nowhere at a time when gun control influence was at its peak and then make it even less likely to get any support.
Let's take this to its (il)logical conclusion. Let's then charge ANY industry for the criminal misuse of their products. Cars, computers, cleaning products, etc. Think that would work?
Yeah, exactly. And this guy's a Phd. One of their intellectual elite. No wonder they're losing so badly.

I'm "well educated" per academia but, that does not confer common sense. To say some really stupid things, one must have a PhD.
Actually, I'd like to take them on with this, and have the detrimental impact accurately compared to the positive fiscal impact with less crime (e.g. assaults, robberies, rapes, and murders) and they would find the calculation not to their liking.
