Ignoring History

The 'leadership' (and I use the word loosely) in Illinois have reached an 'agreement' to waste more of our money and drive more people/businesses out of the state.

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Quinn and the Democratic legislative leaders have struck an agreement to raise the income tax on individuals from 3 percent to 5 ¼-percent

Oh but it's 'temporary' and 'for the children'. When has a tax increase EVER been temporary? Why does the legislature historically pull an equal amount from education whenever they add a new funding source?

Oh, right, because they're incompetent twits who's only mission in life is to get re-elected and give jobs to their cronies.

So for people who voted for Quinn et al., when the state economy continues to collapse while all that money is being taken out of your checks and not a DIME gets added to the schools...

Guess what? You did it.

Brady Campaign Living in the Past

Dennis "I forgot the People" Henigan decides to try and re-argue a case from two years ago, Heller v DC, again claiming it's a victory for 'reasonable gun control'. Chicago tried to re-argue Heller in McDonald v Chicago. They got their pee pee's slapped for it.

Now why did I put that nickname for him in quotes? Because the internet never forgets. While he repeats his claim that the majority justices were ignorant and politically biased, we'll keep reminding the world that he misquoted the 2A while standing on the steps of the appellate court. Then later tried to scrub said truncation.

This is the stage their anti-rights lobby is at. Living in the past and trying to rewrite history.

CSGV Repeats Media Lies, repeating CSGV lies etc.

A local paper in WI recently repeated the lie that the Tiahrt amendment "prevents police from tracing guns" and then goes on to state where guns have been traced by police, obviously not recognizing the irony.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Ownership (probably Ladd Everitt) decided that this blatant misrepresentation was worthy of repeating, as is typical of Joyce foundation puppet groups.

They really are in a catch-22. They can't support their agenda using the truth and when they get caught lying, we call them out on it, making them look like even bigger tools.

Rats Fouling the Nest

Long story short:

Guy buys land in rural NC to raise his family and shoot guns. Later, developers build really expensive houses nearby and sell them to yuppies . Yuppies then proceed to try and stop guy from shooting because it's scary and loud.

Screw these people. They probably bought the houses w/o even visiting the area and are now trying to turn it into the same type of craphole they left.

End of Days?

A bunch of folks are running around proclaiming the Rapture will be May 21st. When I mentioned that to my wife she replied:

Couldn't they at least have done it before taxes are due?

Sorry Charlie, You're Delusional

In Illinois, there is a gun control advocate by the name of Stephen Young. He's involved w/ the Illinois Council against Handgun Violence Ownership (ICHV), a Joyce puppet group, was an organizer for the MMM before it collapsed while under investigation for tax fraud, and was also a litigant in one of the many lawsuits against firearm companies PuSH'ers determined were 'public nuisances' back in the late '90's.

He got into all this because his son was killed due to an underage, known gangbanger who got the gun from another underage gang-banger etc. The gun was traced back to a straw purchaser. Now instead of working w/ the BATFE and authorities to get this straw purchaser and/or the dealer convicted on multiple charges and/or toughen the laws against them, they decided to sue, in civil court, anyone and everyone even remotely associated w/ the gun, from manufacturer to distributors to dealer. When the Illinois Supreme Court (not known for being gun friendly) threw out the suit, he threw a hissy fit:
And still the Illinois Supreme Court says we didn't present any ''evidence of wrongdoing''? What do they need? A signed confession from the entire industry?

Then he went into teaching. At NorthWestern University, he taught a class called “The Politics Of Guns and the 2nd Amendment” and worked for the ICPGV (now merged w/ the ICHV). I'm sure this was a completely non-biased course dedicated to teaching students both sides of the issue, right? Especially when he makes statements like this:
the vast majority of modern American gun law is the work of the NRA. Compare their results to the rest of the world and you'd have to say their work is a failure.
and:
Foreign governments keep guns off their streets. They don't allow gun industry lobbyists to write their firearms laws.
and
I also learned during the Bell Campaign that when the NRA is attacking you, and they came after us constantly, you’re doing something right.
Now, having watched the gun ban lobby achieve failure after failure over the last few years, he's hoping to build a time machine and 'unify' the 'grassroots movement'.

Hate to tell you Stephen (no, that's not true) there is no 'grassroots' for gun control anymore. Your own article says why:
This was during the late 1990’s, when gun violence was one of the top two or three issues covered in the media.
So when the media went away, so did your 'grassroots' support. Your groups survive not by activism/donations from your membership, but by grants from politically motivated foundations like the Joyces. When that money dries up, so do you. Just ask the 'Gun Guys'.

LCAV 2010 report

If you don't want to read the whole thing, I can summarize it.

1. We suck.
2. How in the hell is the NRA thriving with Obama's dream team in place?
3. Everbody thinks we're a complete joke.
4. Send us money.

Weekend Wildlife

The batteries were still chugging along but I took the camera down anyway. Almost all doe's this time. Nice and plump, but a couple of really nice shots came through.

1st Coyote I've seen in this spot.

The does are not intimidated by the camera at all. I have some washed out shots of them grazing this close and in the tree above it. This is the first closeup day shot I've gotten.

The only buck I got a shot of this week.

You can keep your dropping apple...

Well it’s New Years Eve and I still have about 3 hours before 2011 rolls in so that’s plenty of time to share some of the traditions practiced by my friends and family.

First thing we like to do is get nice and drunk. Not that we really need a special day to knock back a few, but it’s nice once a year to buy beer with a colored label and an actual name. Ya, we go all out. Plus, our own rendition is that everyone has to chug a 6-pack first thing New Years Eve morning before they go pee in the plugged up bath tub. Whoever is “the one” who causes the tub to overflow has to mop up the floor and scrub down the bathroom walls within a week or so.

Then it’s on to the food. We always prepare all our NYE meals on the grill but we’re usually all out of charcoal by then since we send all our lumps of coal to the Brady Campaign for Christmas. So we all stand in a circle around the grill with our short barreled rifles and fire into the ground(for safety) and cook with the muzzle flash. The next time someone asks you why you need a semi-auto with a Hi-cap magazine, tell them to try to cook hash browns with a bolt-action!

We each have our specialty, mine is jalapeño poppers. I slice the pepper open and get the cream cheese nice and gooey hot first with some wildcat .223 rounds from the Carbon-15 and then dip the whole thing in batter and lighter fluid and stuff it down the barrel of my 12 gauge(perfect fit) shotgun. Firing straight up in the air, it gets a good crisp on the outside and has enough time to cool on the way down for some lucky duck to catch it in their mouth.

The secret to good cooking is not to be afraid of trying new things…

Uncle Bubba slings a mean flaming Slim Jim with his Winchester 30-30.
Aunt Bobby Sue makes a stuffed olive with her Desert Eagle that is to die for, and she can garnish a plate at 50 meters without disturbing the garlic mashed potatoes.
Cousin Billy Joe Jim Bob III, has perfected his “pulled pork” with his clay pigeon launcher and some incendiary rounds and this year, he brought along a small home-made mortar to toast the buns.

But everyone bows to Grandma.

She can grab any .22 ever made and send a Rosemary skewer right through the center of a pork chop at 100 paces and season it with whole peppercorns through her trusty-rusty .410 before the chop stops jiggling.

The kidddies get the airsoft guns and some frozen peas, and they seem content to feed the dogs at 10 paces, but I can see it in their eyes. They want to make some recipes of their own but they just don’t have the proper tools yet.

Truth be told, all our celebrating is pretty much done before midnight rolls around.

Sitting around the campfire cleaning our guns, getting ready for the new year.
