Open Comments At The Brady Campaign?

It's a Christmas Miracle.

Let's see how long it lasts before 'Reasoned Discourse' kicks in.

Here's the comment I left, we'll see if it makes it past moderation (somehow I doubt it):

I hate to break it to you, but those perfectly valid points have been raised for years, not in response to your vapid “candles will stop bullets” ridiculousness.

Typical of the utopian mindset: we can solve the world’s problems with nothing more than good intentions, a meaningless quasi-religious act of contrition to the Gods of Criminal Violence, and unicorn farts.

As I’ve said for years: This whole political exercise isn’t about violence. It isn’t about gun violence, it isn’t even about guns.

It’s about control, pure and simple. It’s about a group of self-righteous busybodies who see their fellow citizens doing something they disapprove of, want to put a stop to it and will stoop to any means to do so; including maliciously attempting to link the tens of millions of law abiding gun owners with the violence caused by a tiny number of criminals, appealing to emotion by exploiting vulnerable and very probably PTSD suffering victims of violent crime to push their agenda, and, as in this post, ridiculing their opponents points of view without even attempting to portray them accurately or address the actual arguments being made….not to mention the bought and paid for “studies” that are provably inaccurate and unscientific, misleadingly cherry picking statistics and crime reports to create a false view of reality, and flat out lying about what their true goals and ambitions are.

No…gun control has very little to do with guns. Gun control has everything to do with control. And , if history proves one thing, it proves that if it wasn’t guns, the self-righteous busybodies would find something else about their fellow citizens to try to wrest control of. These people are no different than the ones who advocated prohibition in the 20′s, those who would tell us how much salt or fat we can eat, those who like to legislate how many bad words make it on to TV, or whether it’s OK for Bill to marry Jake.

People who deem themselves the arbiters of all that is right and good in the world are the same the world over, regardless of their specific agenda, political affiliation or religious beliefs. When it comes right down to it, it really has very little to do with the specific cause they’re advocating for, it has to do with the fact that they very simply don’t like freedom. They don’t like their fellow citizens being allowed to make decisions that they don’t approve of.

The rallying cry of self-righteous busy-body control freaks the world over: “There oughtta be a law!”

5 hours and counting and my contribution hasn't made it through moderation yet.

I can't imagine what the hold-up is.

Assuming the worst (a pretty safe bet at this point), it sure didn't take long for "reasoned discourse" to raise its ugly head.

My comment never made it through moderation, the Christmas miracle is over.

Yep same 3 pro-gun comments 24 hours later. It likely means they have gotten NO feedback from anti-rights people (dispute their drawing as much attention to it as they could manage) and no new comments will be appearing.
