Just Not Feeling It.

The whole thing w/ the 'Debt Ceiling' has really shown me that this country is screwed beyond repair. The politicians are patting themselves on the back for 'cutting' spending when all their doing is the equivalent of feeling proud they cancelled the newspaper delivery while they use credit cards to pay the mortgage.

Our education system is seemingly designed to make kids feel better about themselves but not actually learn anything. Little Johnny has self esteem but he can't read anything but the McDonalds menu or the TV guide.

I read a sci-fi story some years back that followed succeeding generations of a family and how it went from a fairly prosperous middle-class family to a street kid being interviewed by a foreign sociologist as to why the country collapsed.

Numerous people over the last few months, knowing I'm a 'gun nut', have asked me about recommendations for what they should do to prepare. Not only defense, but how to get food, water, where to go, what to do, etc. because they also feel we're beyond recovery.

It's bread and circuses time and the barbarians are at the gates.
