The Wailing and Gnashing of Teeth Begins

I won't like to the 'Gun Guys' but here's part of the statement from the Joyce Puppet Illinois Council Against Handgun Ownership. They're singing the same tune as before w/ Heller.

"We believe this ruling affirms a host of effective laws and viable solutions to preventing gun violence. The Court's opinion clearly allows for requiring background checks on all gun sales,... Furthermore, we are confident that when the gun lobby litigates and challenges these policies the courts will ultimately uphold the constitutionality of these gun laws."

They then rant on about kids running around w/ guns and us wanting to 'arm everybody'.
The VPC (another Joyce Puppet) is takes the rhetoric to a higher level w/ their usual nonsense:

"People will die because of this decision. It is a victory only for the gun lobby and America's fading firearms industry.

They're really detached from reality.

And Paul Helmke declares victory:

"The Court again recognized that the Second Amendment allows for reasonable restrictions on firearms, including who can have them and under what conditions, where they can be taken, and what types of firearms are available. "

They still consider classifying a .22 semi-auto handgun a 'machinegun' to be 'reasonable'. That's the way DC set it up.

Mcdonald V Chicago

Livefeed via Scotusblog.com

Should be first w/ Alito.

Tom: Incorporation will be under the Due Process Clause.

Erin:
Alito announces McDonald v. Chicago: reversed and remanded

Erin:

The opinion concludes that the 14th Amendment does incorporate the Second Amendment right recognized in Heller to keep and bear arms in self defense

Tom:
5-4

Erin:
Stevens dissents for himself. Breyer dissents, joined by Ginsburg and Sotomayor.

Erin:
The majority Justices do not support all parts of the Alito opinion, but all five agree that the 2d Amendment applies to state and local government.

Erin:
Alito, in the part of the opinion joined by three Justices, concludes that the 2d Amendment is incorporated through the Due Process Clause.

Thomas thinks the Amendment is incorporated, but not under Due Process. He appears to base incorporation on Privileges or Immunities.

Decision here.

Weekend Shootey Fun

I'm not a competitive shooter nor am I anywhere near Caleb in ability but I'm a decent shot when I actually concentrate on it and ya know what?

I just enjoy shooting. Especially w/ friends. Trying out new firearms. Letting others get a chance to use mine. Even w/ 95Deg heat and 100% humidity, it was a great day.

And I really got to have some fun w/ a .50cal muzzle loader. W/ a 'Magnum' load.

My 'O' face:

Exit hole:

I like that toy.

Mexican Smugglers

So w/ the fact that we've effectively lost territory to the Cabals, what should we expect ICE to do about it? About as much as they've been doing. Remember that kid shot on the border?

The records show Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereca had been arrested at least four times since 2008 and twice in the same week in February 2009 on suspicion of smuggling illegal immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border. Hernandez was repeatedly arrested along the U.S. side of the border near downtown El Paso, not far from where he was killed, but was never charged with a crime by federal prosecutors.
And where's the rest of the LameStream media on these events? Oh, right, they're busy calling Arizona a bunch of racists.

Daley Censors 2A Advocates

Proving yet again that Daley thinks of himself as King of Chicago, the permit for the 2A meeting in Tuley Park has been revoked, one week before the date.

Gerald Vernon says he did everything he should have to obtain a permit to hold a meeting at the Tuley Park field house on the south side. He told the park supervisor he expected 150 to 200 people to attend, filled out the paperwork she gave him, paid a $100 fee, and walked away thinking he'd reserved a meeting room for the evening of June 30. The group that would be convening was Illinois Carry, an organization advocating for the right to bear concealed firearms.

But on Wednesday, a week before the scheduled date of the event, he got a call telling him his permit had been revoked.

Just like when he had Meigs field plowed when the courts upheld an injunction, Daley shows he will go to any length to pursue his private vendettas.

From Valinda Rowe of Illinois Carry:
"Odd (or being Chicago maybe not so odd) how the Right to Carry meeting was discussed at that City Council Committee hearing last Friday and then suddenly the permit is "rescinded" - word has it Chatham Ward Alderman Fredrianna Lyles was lamenting the fact the meeting was going to take place . . . and then all of a sudden . . . "

Machine Gun Sammy

While Dave Hardy reports that some believe Roberts is going to keep McDonald all to himself, most of the chatter I've heard and from what I understand of SCOTUS tradition puts the opinion in the hands of Alito.

While SIH has some concerns over this, no matter the reason, this is the same guy the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership dubbed "Machine Gun Sammy" and were absolutely crapping themselves over when he was nominated.

We're not going to get everything we want but I am certainly looking forward to Monday. And I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing from the PuSH'ers that because every gun law wasn't immediately repealed and gradeschoolers aren't walking around w/ AK-47's, that this was really a 'loss' for our side , gun control was going to sweep the nation and the NRA is planning on overthrowing the Gov't.

True friends...

Hmmm, coming up with new material for a post once a month is very taxing. Truth be told, I haven’t been in a very good mood lately and can’t get my thoughts nailed down. I’m not going to post something just to fill space.

I was supposed to be in Missouri right now visiting my Mother. My plans sorta changed the day before my flight. I was packing my bags and was transferring the guns I had in one home to the gun safe I have in another home for safe keeping during the trip.

Much to my surprise, my other home(summer home) had been broken into. They came in through a window and stole a bunch of crap. TV which I don’t use, old computer riddled with viruses, 2 different stereos along with the speakers, several ceramic knick-knack dragons and a custom one-of-a-kind model steam engine built by my brother and my Father’s Father. They also took a gawdy NRA belt buckle I received for free(barf) and some custom playing cards from the North American Hunting Club, of which I’m a life time member. Other worthless items were taken as well which makes me believe it may have been kids rather than hardened criminals.

The only thing I miss is that model steam engine. Anyone familiar with The Oregon Steam-up will know who built it. I’m his Grandson.

Anyways, the bastards left behind the gun safe. The tire tracks in the driveway told me they were driving a small car and couldn’t haul it off even if they wanted. What concerned me was the fact that they also took the dolly and rope on the back porch which I used to get that safe into my summer home to begin with. They were inside my home. They saw the safe. THEY SAW THE SAFE.

Long story short, I couldn’t exactly fly out the next morning knowing that they had been in my home, saw what I had, stole everything needed to take what I have and have one ounce of enjoyment 2000 miles away.

I had to cancel.

I’ve heard that a few gun owners read this blog. This is some simple advice for those readers. If you do not own a gun safe(s) which can secure ALL OF YOUR GUNS, then skip your next gun purchase and buy one.

I had planned on buying another gun to celebrate McDonald. Now I will be spending that money on another gun safe as my collection has exceeded my ability to protect it from scumbags.

Please, please , please…keep the needed hardware nearby for home defense…and lock everything else up inside a device that will make scumbags curse and give you some time to make plans for their return.

Oh yes, I most certainly have.

They didn’t get a single gun, a single scope, a single magazine, a god damn single round of live ammo.

Buy a safe. Buy several. Buy a spare that sits empty for future acquisitions. Check the floor supports. Place it where it can it stand fully booked.

And above all else…have friends that will help you move heavy things.

Illinois Crime Control

Remember the plan by Il Gov. Pat Quinn to release prisoners early to save money?

Remember how he shut it down and started pointing fingers shortly after it came to light they were releasing violent criminals after as little as 7 days?

Well guess what?

A bunch of those individuals, including some involved in murder, are unaccounted for .

Don't you feel safer?

Concealed Carry NOW!!

Another NRA Myth Debunked..

Noted by SIH and in my earlier post, The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership, in their opposition to the DISCLOSE exemptions (love it or hate it), are doing a wonderful job of destroying myths commonly used by rights deniers to demonize the NRA.
"This led to a “compromise” that exempts groups with more than a million members; and that raised 15 percent or less funding from corporations; that have members in all 50 states; and that have been around at least 10 years."
" that raised 15 percent or less funding from corporations" ?

So 85%+ is coming from non-corporations, primarily private donors. It's nice that the BC finally put to rest the myth that the NRA is a lobbying arm of the firearm industry.

The "R" Doesn't Stand for Republican

No matter your stance on the DISCLOSE Act, Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership attacks the myth that the NRA is an arm of the Republican Party (or vice-versa):

This is not the first piece of sensible legislation that NRA-backed Democrats have thwarted or jeopardized because of their allegiance to the NRA and the money it pours into their campaigns.

Thanks for that Paul. You're a peach.

You can find that pertinent information amidst all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the fact that the BC, even w/ the loosening of the 'exemption' requirements, are nowhere near them.
