A few points I made in the comments:
I would love for the manufacturers to go before congress and start answering questions because then, just like what happened in Illinois during the Concealed Carry debates, the Congress-persons would be shown to be completely ignorant on what they're trying to ban. Google "shoulder thing that goes up" for a prime example of Congressional ignorance. .
And it is ironic to note the link to the 'Violence Policy Center" (who's head, Josh Sugarmann's salary takes up a huge percentage of their budget) is the one that popularized the term 'Assault Weapon' to replace 'sporter'. Why? By their own admission: "The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons." What was that? 'Sleight of hand' to keep the public ignorant? The supporting comments are just as ignorant:
It's funny how all of these supposedly tough guys with their guns and Second Amendment rights are some of the biggest cowards around. To run like frightened little girls whenever anyone mentions any sort of meaningful gun legislation is the sure sign of weak position bolstered by bluster. Not really sure where this nitwit gets this from outside of his own personal beliefs. THIS is why they have such a hard time getting anything passed. They've got no support for their meme's.

"And the tired old canard about protecting yourself from our over-reaching government with your oh-so-scary pistol or shotgun or AR 15 is just silly, little cowboy...If a swat team comes knocking on your door to collect your precious firearms, they'll take them. This is why we have laws, so the government can't do this to us."
These people really can't see the logical disconnect, can they?
JUST WHO DO YOU THINK WRITES AND ENFORCES THOSE LAWS?

The never-ending infatuation with cowardice and implied sexism from the gun control crowd is mind-boggling. They can't seem to have a single conversation without either comparing gun owning males to women and/or children or making penis jokes.
