The prime sponsor, Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, also condemned the search provision in his own bill, after I asked him about it. He said Palmer is right that it’s probably unconstitutional. And they blamed 'unnamed staff'.
“I have to admit that shouldn’t be in there,” Murray said.
Here's the trick. The guy filed the exact same bill w/ said provision in 2010. Just nobody paid attention to it then.

Oh right, because all they care about is banning guns and they don't care how many other rights they trample on in the process. They're only upset they got caught.

Just the fact that they're admitting they sign bills without reading them should get them canned. Who else can be that incompetent at their job and not get fired?
It's pretty funny how even an anti-gunner is thinking that maybe we're not so paranoid when they're slipping this stuff in and feigning ignorance/incompetence.
LCAV, most likely.
We've been discussing this one quite a bit, it's garbage. I emailed all of my reps and all the responses, save one, were extremely critical of this proposed ban. The best statement was along the lines of "The only good thing about this bill is that it has no chance of becoming law." That's quite heartening when your representatives respond in a manner that says they are in outright disagreement with this bill, as opposed to a canned response that says "I support your rights," and like I said, all but one response said that this just plain isn't going to happen.
So they're either incompetent("I didn't know this was in my bill!), or liars.
Looks like they're liars
