Illinois CCW

The CCW bill in Illinois is having a committee hearing today at 2pm Illinois House tomorrow in room D1, Stratton Bldg. All Illinois resident's able to attend, should.

It's been reported that the new Gov. is opposed to CCW but there is a lot of support outside for it including police organizations and numerous counties.

Might this be the year?

Update: According to sources, it's actually out of committee and onto the House floor. For a CCW bill in Illinois, this is a nearly unprecedented major step.

Don't think so. I hope so, but in view of the endemic corruption in Illinois politics it seems highly unlikely that any powers now illegitimately claimed by the state will be returned to the people as their right.

Can't have the rabble getting all uppity and thinking they are somebody. Next thing you know they would be calling for a house cleaning and incarceration of corrupt officials. Therefore they must be allowed no image of themselves as free citizens. Control over them would then be too hard to maintain.

I sincerely hope Illinois repeals their prohibitions against second amendment rights, but I don't see it happening any time soon. At least not without some credible threat to the politicians' careers or other interests.

That is what we should be talking about anyway. Repeal of the transgressions against the citizens' right guaranteed by the second amendment. Not a new law "permitting" the exercise of such as a privilege. That still leaves the state as master and owner of supposedly free men.

Car and Driver had a column that listed new license plate mottos. The one for Illinois was "The State That's Really A City".
