My Uncle took some Hornady Critical Defense Ammo to the range and put it up against some water jugs. He recovered the bullets and put them in comparison to the pre-fired rounds:







Commentary on the results:

From this point on, this is the only loads that I keep in my home defense weapons. I was particularly impressed with the 40SW. It did more damage to the first jug than any of the others including the 45acp. In 2011 Hornaday is adding a 45 colt to it's line up and I will be replacing the 45 colt leverevolution rounds that I currently have in my Taurus judge.

The Slow Death of Gun Control

Anti-gun advocates like to point to the MAIG poll showing a whole bunch of NRA members are clamoring for more gun laws. When it isn't a gun control group using a company that's been censured multiple times, the results are completely opposite.



It's always entertaining to watch PuSH'ers try and deny the fact that support for their cause has been decreasing for over two decades. We now have the majority of the population not in favor of stricter laws but also the majority of state and federal legislators along with multiple SCOTUS decisions supporting the 2A.

Now that certainly doesn't mean that gun control is dead though. Like bedbugs or roaches, they'll return at any opportunity to push their restrictive agenda. And we need to make sure support for gun control is viewed in the same light.

I Luv the Intertubes

I like collecting Camo. Some stuff is really hard to find in the states. So today I went searching around on the German Ebay and found a few places. With the help of some online translators (not perfect I know but better than my German) I've been talking to them about purchasing some items. I also used a site that provided up to date exchange rates to figure out how much it would cost and will be using some type of internet based payment.

What a wonderful tool.

The Latest Harry Potter Flick

Went out w/ the wife last night to have some dinner w/ some friends and go to the movies.

Since we decided for a 7:45 showing, I went online and ordered tickets. Good thing too. By the time we got to the theater, a half hour before the show, it was practically sold out. We had to stand in the lobby (which was packed) until about 5 minutes before the start time since they were running showings that close together.

The movie was good. Special effects were typical of the series. Very dark and lots of action w/ a good 'cliffhanger' scene. I should note that I have NOT read the books and won't until after the last movie comes out. Due to that, I had to have my wife explain some events and terms they used in the film that they didn't provide any background info for and weren't in the previous movies. They did use some of that bouncy camera crap for the chase scenes though but not too much.

I'm looking forward to the finale.

Restrictions by Demographics?

Dennis Henigan, Brady/Goddard Campaign lawyer, supports restricting civil rights based upon demographics, in this instance the number of crimes committed by 18-24 year olds.

Would he say the same for other demographics that tend to have higher than average crime rates?

We already know that the VPC supports such measures.

The ATF Nominee (Pay Attention Folks)

Several blogs have noted that Obama's choice for BATFE director, Andrew Travor, is a disaster waiting to happen. Just the fact that the Brady/Goddard Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership is 'applauding' the decision should tell you what this Chicago hacks ideas about guns are.

This is the same agency that's trying to regulate Airsoft guns (like what the country where the UK used to be did), randomly changes its often contradictory and vague rules, and spends millions of your tax dollars on grudges and office furniture.

Throw in a guy who continues the deliberate deceptions about 'assault weapons' w/ a history of gun ban advocacy and you've got your 'hope and change' in a nutshell.

What we'll most likely see are the usual political games played to get him in there. Played and supported by the same people who decried the same games when played by Bush. Just watch.

November 16, 2010 (CHICAGO) -- U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean conceded Tuesday night to Republican challenger Joe Walsh in the tightly-fought race for Illinois' 8th Congressional District seat.

Walsh was endorsed by the ISRA and A rated by the NRA (but not endorsed) and GOA.

Bean was endorsed by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership, rated D by the NRA and F by the GOA.

That's one more for us folks.

But I'm sure the BC will still claim 'victory'.

Lame Duck

So far nothing untoward has happened in the IL legislature. It was a no net loss or gain for us in relation to firearm rights.
