NetRoots Nation's Two Minute Hate

One can almost imagine this scene at the latest 'Netroots Nation' conference which featured numerous panels on how to take down the NRA":

The levels of hate and propaganda there was frightening, especially due to who was spouting it:
"I'm not an ordained minister, I'm not a theologian, but these guys are going to hell," the National Education Association's vice president (Lily Eskelsen Garcia) said..
"The gun lobby has been very smart about figuring out every single loophole to negate the assault weapons ban. We're sick of the loopholes, we're sick of the cat and mouse games," he said. "We need to distinguish between responsible gun ownership, gun ownership for sport ... and the extreme -- the use of rapid-fire weapons that have no purpose but to kill."State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento,
American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten said the movement should take a page from immigration and same-sex marriage advocates and present clear, touching stories of those who gain and lose from gun violence. "When people see faces and when they are impacted individually, it changes minds," she said.
So IOW they want to call us a bunch of baby killers and constantly rub our faces in the blood of the dead, no matter the facts behind it.

Some of them recognize reality though:
MoveOn.org executive director Anna Galland praised the Netroots Nation crowd. "The grass-roots engagement and leadership here is so important," she said, but only in that it can mobilize the masses. "We need to have a movement that is 10 times bigger, a hundred times bigger than we have now."
Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., acknowledged this discussion in such a liberal venue might have been like preaching to the choir. "But the choir needs practice," she said. "The choir needs encouragement."
Yep, keep telling your remaining sheep that 'we're winning' while the overwhelming majority of the organizations are based around a few people in an office claiming 'grassroots'.  Their 'majority support' only lasts as long as there isn't a new episode of American Idol on.

While they keep focusing on the NRA, it being the '500lb guerrilla', they have less resources to focus on all the state level organizations w/ hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of members. When they're online, their only recourse from having their pages turned into pro-gun advocacy sites is 'reasoned discourse', deleting comments and banning anyone who varies even slightly from the party line. Like Rep Kelly admits, they need their echo chambers.  When in the meat world, the reality is this: 1, 2, 3, 4

Yeah, like when they ban a gun because it has a flash suppressor, the evil “gun lobby” takes off the flash suppressor and continues to sell the now compliant gun. What jerks. The mouse was supposed to give up.

Yes, please include the stories and faces of those who have gained from gun violence by defending themselves. That will help.

I think by 'gain' they mean those who then get paid trips by anti-gun groups/legislators across the country like the parents who were put up in the Gov's mansion at tax payer expense.

Like the Ruger 10/22 that they are trying to ban.

State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, said California is leading the way with bills that would, among other things, ban all semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines

With all this talk about “military style”, it turns out that non-military styled guns are just a “loophole”. But, no, there’s no slippery slope.

they are poised to gain the votes of 30 million mexican sheep who screwed up their own country and now wish to drive the stake in the heart of ours. Woe to us if we don't rise up now...

It's no surprise that they think the NRA is the enemy - as collectivists, they are unable to contemplate the concept of individuals having opinions without someone telling them what to think.

According to this article, the NRA was the "Great Satan" at this "progressive" hate-fest.

I didn't notice a loophole, did you?
