More Gun Control Grassroots (2Fer)

So for that '90% want more gun control' bit?

A protest outside the ISRA's open house at the range yesterday(around 1000 attendees):

I don't recognize the logo on the car.  Anyone?

Update:  They're from 'stopconcealedcarry.org'.  Looking at their site, they have over 2000 people listed as 'members' along w/ 2 dozen 'institutions' and some legislators. So their participation is less than 1:1000.  So another instance of anyone who signed their 'petition' or for email being listed as a 'member'. They even require it to sign the petition.

And, in Rockford, IL, the mayor has renounced his MAIG membership and denounced the organization as another anti-gun group.
"The reason why I joined the group in the first place was because I took the name for what it said, against illegal guns," Morrissey said.
Morrissey said he didn't expect the organization to get involved with banning magazine clips or "assault" weapons.
"As the original mission swayed, that's when I decided it was no longer in line with my beliefs," Morrissey said.

Trust not a word they say.

Just looked at their site, and their statistics are all one of two things - either parroted, disproven ones or completely irrelevant ones.

"As the original mission swayed"...

That was the original mission.

"StopConcealedCarry.org" if we accept your agenda per the title of your group and the Second Amendment means what it says, then we should all start openly carrying. I suspect a few heads over there would explode over that.

Since when do CCW holders create problems when they have a criminal activity rate lower than the police?

None so blind as those who do not wish to see. Ignorance and bigotry are so unbecoming.

Blah. Although I do give him credit for realizing the stupidity of the organization, he immediately loses all creditability once he says, "magazine clips".

I suspect that you are looking at a 100% turn out of all actual members of the group...

Did some quick research, found something interesting: it is astroturf... but astroturf that seems to be homegrown by one dude!

A Google search of the phone number listed on stopconcealedcarry.org's[1] Contact Us page shows that it belongs to a business named Mediated Settlement Service, of Northbrook, IL. A Google Search for "Mediated Settlement Service, Illinois" doesn't bring up any official website for this business (an oddity in 2003, downright alien in 2013!) but did bring me to the Chamber of Commerce entry[2] on this business... which lists a "Lee Goodman" as the owner.

A quick review of the 'About Us' page at stopconcealedcarry.org which lists their membership rolls shows a "Lee Goodman" along with an Ann Goodman, Edie Goodman, Nancy Goodman, and Rae Goodman... which has me suspecting that Mr. Goodman and his wife have signed up all three of their children. (Let me make it clear, I am just guessing. I have no idea if these Goodmans are related, their ages, or anything else. This is pure conjecture... I could probably find this out via publiclly available census records and phonebook entries, but that would be creepy.)

What this leaves me with is apparently a "activist group" that really seems to be being run by one guy, after hours, from his day job's telephone. An ordganization that counts anyone who signs its pettion as a member, anyone who likes it on facebook as a member, and almost exclusively relies on OTHER anti-gun rights groups for the content of their Photo Gallery, "Gun Facts" Citations, and, best I can tell, membership rolls.

So a Westboro Baptist type grassroots.

@ Matthew:
Yeah, except that Westboro Baptist can actually get "PEOPLE" to show up at their protests. This is, like, "person".
