Chicago: Gun Control Works

7 people killed in shootings during bloody Chicago day

And that was just one day boys and girls.  Sunday accounted for at least one more.

And here's the part making the most headlines:
Among those killed Saturday was a 34-year-old man whose mother had already lost her three other children to shootings. Police say Ronnie Chambers, who was his mother's youngest child, was shot in the head while sitting in a car...

Shirley Chambers' first child, Carlos, was shot and killed by a high school classmate in 1995 after an argument. He was 18. Her daughter Latoya, then 15, and her other son Jerome were shot and killed within months of one another in 2000.
But the part that's not mentioned or buried deep in the articles:
In a December appearance on the "The Ricki Lake Show," Chambers identified himself as a former gang member who was trying to help others stay away from that kind of life.
Police said he'd been arrested 29 times and had four felony convictions. Records show his most recent conviction was in 2005 for receiving, possessing or selling a stolen motor vehicle. He was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, records show.
Chambers, whose nickname was "Scooby," had been "trying to change his life," Smith said.
Yep, just another choir boy 'trying to change his life'.  I'm sure the other siblings were just as innocent.   Just two weeks ago, Obama cited Chicago, the city w/ some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and where over 90% of shootings go unsolved, as the reason why we need MORE gun laws even though the ones he's calling for are already in place in the city.  And what's even more fun is that Chicago is exporting its crime.  Aren't we lucky?

To be fair to 'Scooby', it is possible he was trying to change, but simply had made enemies back in his gang member days. Statistically recidivism is more likely though. Either way it's not a big surprise unfortunately.

In Chambers' defense, if he was trying to keep others out of the gang/thug life, then he probably was "trying to change his life".

Of course, that hurts recruitment for local gangs, so the shooting might have been retribution.

But in the end, the shooter was probably a career criminal and/or gang member, so naturally the blame will fall on law-abiding gun owners and the NRA.

Markie Marxist sez: "90% of murders go unsolved?! Wow! I knew that Rahm was pedal to the metal on keeping the murders up, and that's why Chicago has the highest number of murders in the US, but I didn't know he was doing that much for us! Great job, Rahm! Keep that body count up! We need it to drive our gun ban agenda! And see if you can get the unsolveds to 95%! Ha! Ha!"

The question that needs to be asked, again and again, of the gun grabbers, is why, if they are so keen on stopping the slaughter, they don't send their storm troopers into the inner city to go door to door to grab all the illegal guns the gang bangers are killing people with.

I haven't heard a single gun control suggestion that would have saved a single one of the kids in Sandy Hook Elementary. Confiscating all the illegal guns in Chicago's Gangbangerville section might have saved Scooby and the other six who were gunned down.

But we all know they aren't concerned about saving any lives, are they.

The same question I've sent to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and never gotten a response:

Sure, I'll support more gun laws for you, as soon as you have your congregation write the names of every family member and neighbor that belongs to a gang and has a gun hidden on a sheet of paper. Let me know when you're done and we'll hold a joint press conference to name names and start to really bring the cycle of violence to an end.
