"There are some houses that were illegally built. We're going to take them over," he said on television from the presidential palace.

Chavez's government has nationalized hundreds of businesses including cement makers, retail stores and steel mills as part of his drive to establish a socialist economic model in Venezuela. Authorities have also seized large swaths of agricultural land deemed idle by officials, turning parcels over to poor peasants.

Just like we saw by allowing 'reasonable, common-sense' gun control laws to pass, allowing the incremental-ism of Gov't control will lead to this in the US.

Wisconsin Courts 'Milking' People For Revenue

Say you own a cow in Wisconsin. You board the cow on a private farm. You milk said cow and drink the milk yourself.

According to a Wisconsin judge, you're running a 'Dairy Farm' and have to follow all the rules and regulations (including all taxes, fees and licenses of course) because it's 'unsafe'. If you don't, you can be prosecuted.

But there's no slippery-slope to the Gov't overreaching it's authority and becoming a nanny. No. Not at all.

Dennis Henigan's Selective Memory on Litigation

Trying to claim that the refusal to hear Heller II is the downfall of the pro-rights 2A cases, he selectively does not mention the losses his side has faced in Chicago like in McDonald v Chicago and the most recently the 7th Circuit bitch slapping the city took in Ezell v Chicago. Then there's San Fransisco's attempt to dismiss the case against them denied.

So for those who actually are honest and are paying attention, no, the cases aren't batting 1000. Only a fool would expect them to be. But the majority of the important cases are moving ahead as planned or even better than planned.

All the while, the NRA actually has the money to run all these cases simultaneously andthe Brady Campaign can't find a president masochistic enough to take up their cause nor afford to support more than one case at a time. How much of their resources did it take to fight the FL gag law? How many more can they do w/ their declining resources?

This line is telling in that the Brady's reall haven't changed their goals in the face of overwhelming legislative and litigative defeats across the nation over the last decade plus:

all the gun lobby has had to show for its efforts is a growing body of case law affirming the right of the people to have strong gun laws short of a total handgun ban."

"Short of". Yeah. And we're going to bash those laws down in time as well.

Broward County, Florida Again

Broward County, the same county that brought us Sheriff Jenne and illegal firearm confiscations thinks that victims of assault should be forced to remain defenseless and that they should be exempt from state law.

These people live in their own separate world.

The Effectiveness of Gun Control

California is the highest rated state by the Brady Campaign. It has background checks, licensing and registration, assault weapon ban, waiting periods, 'safe handgun' requirements and all sorts of other 'reasonable, common-sense' laws to prevent shootings and increase safety.

Or maybe they don't:

Longtime employee Shareef Allman said hi to everyone, grabbed a cup of coffee, then ducked out. Within moments he was back with a .40-caliber handgun and a .223-caliber assault rifle, witnesses say. He fired two shots into the air to grab everyone's attention.

Obviously this means that MORE useless laws need to be passed.

And they wonder why less and less people take gun control advocates seriously anymore.

IL Sheriffs Want Help From Citizens

"In rural areas, county law enforcement is used to not having a back up, or that's 15 or 20 minutes away from us," Schneider said. "In other areas, you rely on some of these people who are law-abiding citizens to assist during a critical incident."

He is among over 100 Il Sheriff's to support CCW. But instead, groups like the Joyce funded ICHV want to keep the citizenry disarmed due to their own fears and projection. The same people that claim we should rely on the police for all of our protection.

More Selective Outrage

CSGV's 'Insurrectionist Timeline' (conveniently starting right after McDonald v DC, an expansion of civil rights) NOT updated w/ protesters calling the US gov't the 'Enemy'.

But U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (IL-08) made the list.

What is 'Modest' Gun Control?

Ladd Everitt of the CSGV sends lots of hate mail to 'GunFight' author Adam Winkler. Mr. Winkler is an interesting character as he is very middle of the road when it comes to the issue. When he spoke at the GRPC'11 conference where I met him, he did receive some heckles from the audience.

This time, he put up an article talking about the history of the NRA pre-1977 and how it did support several gun control measures so of course Ladd had to tweet it as damning to all those silly NRA supporters. Winkler finishes:

Next time someone complains about that a modest gun law tramples on the Second Amendment, remind them of the old NRA--and of a time when even the nation's leading gun rights advocates supported gun control.

First one needs to define what is a 'modest' gun law.

In 1968, Chicago Mayor Daley Sr. started out w/ the 'modest' measure of registrati­on. For 'protection'. 14 yrs later, the registrati­on offices were closed to any new registrati­ons.

The 'modest' measure of requiring all firearm sales to go through FFL dealers coincides w/ attempts to legislate and litigate FFL dealers out of business.

The 'modest' measure of mandating 'safe storage' increase the expense of owning a firearm double or triple the amount it takes to own one and can only be used after the fact unless the authorities start unwarranted searches/i­nspections of homes as they do in Australia.

There's a reason there was a revolt in 1977. All the 'modest' measures kept adding up and they saw the writing on the wall. Through Chicago, Washington DC, England, and Australia to name a few, we've seen the end result of 'modest' measures.


The advocates of more and more 'modest' gun control brought the new NRA on themselves.

Four New York State Senators (Jeff Klein, Diane Savino, David Carlucci and David Valesky) believe that the 1st Amendment should be treated as a list of 'privileges' ,not rights, granted by the state that can be revoked:

Proponents of a more refined First Amendment argue that this freedom should be treated not as a right but as a privilege — a special entitlement granted by the state on a conditional basis that can be revoked if it is ever abused or maltreated.

I'm going to hazard a guess they're proponents of gun control as well.

Career History:
1989-1991...Lead shovel-man of horse feces on a small farm. I was also the resident expert on collecting chicken crap, pig poop, and cow patties along with a wide variety of urine soaked hay. I dabbled in animal husbandry a bit until my employer found out and fired me. After that I took a few years off to smoke weed.

2000-2006...Scored a major hook-up at McDonalds making the fries and cleaning the toilets. I got so efficient at it that I could do both at the same time. My manager failed to see the brilliance of using raw potatoes and their natural acidity to sterilize the skid marks on the seats and they fired me.

2006-present…I got a job where I get wheel-barrels full of cash to post offensive and untruthful comments on Huffington Post articles. It’s a pretty easy gig but it’s kinda boring. I’d much rather spout offensive and untruthful comments on a National level, hence my interest in the Brady Campaign.

Education:
I’m the smartest most awesome intellect the universe has ever produced. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot of the highest order.

Yes, I speak language. I occasionally read language as well but I prefer picture books.
