This is why people oppose registration and licensing.
SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says state police must release the name of everyone in the state who is authorized to own a gun.
State police determine who gets a Firearm Owners Identification card, which allows people to own guns. The police have always kept the list private.

no, it's a shopping list for anti-gun jerks. Think of the reaction to Prop-8 in California. Oh, so sorry, we hired someone else. Oh, so sorry, you can't enroll your child in our school, we... umm... don't have room, yeah, no room.
Nice to see that Sens. John O. Jones and Kyle McCarter have signed on as cosponsors to SB 27, just today. I have to figure they did so as a direct result of Madigan's announcement, because the bill had sat around without any cosponsors for almost 3 weeks, before today.
I probably ought to get a note of thanks to them.
No action on the House companion bill, HB 7.
My suspicion is that support for these bills will be very bipartisan as more that a few nominally anti-gun official are on that list.
"authorized to own a gun."
What a pitiful thought that is.
SB 27 has gotten five more cosponsors since my last comment.
The Comedian, you nailed it with that comment.
I call upon every liberal who believes in liberty to get a FOID, regardless of their lack of desire to own a gun.
This is about more than gun ownership.
This reminds me of the (southern/Tidewater) Virginia newspaper that, years ago, publicized CCW permittees in that town. What an invasion of privacy and a shopping list for burglars. Are the goofballs in Illinois also going to release the names/addresses of every VIP and Congress-critter and police officer (active and retired) who has a gun permit in Illinois? Idiotic.
