AppleSeed YAY!!

Finally there's one in my area this weekend and I managed to get a slot reserved. For those of you who have not heard of this, Appleseed is a Marksman's clinic run by the Revolutionary War Veterans Assoc. Its goal is to teach people to be better shooters and educate the public on the history of this country.

Now the decision is which rifle(s) to bring. I'm thinking the SAR-1 (AK clone) w/ the SKS as a backup since using the AR would completely deplete my ammo for it. For the rimfire, my Marlin 81 is the only option.

Two full days of intensive rifle training. This is going to be fun. Anyone else in the IL area going to be there?

Have a good time, write it up for your blog, and send the link to the blog to Fred, tell him you are the future of media coverage and that Earl recommended you get invited to more in depth investigation of RWVA shooting events.

Let me know how you make out with the SKS because I am seriously considering taking my AK to one. Also, I'd like to know if they prefer open sights or optics (which is why I'd prefer the AK over taking a .22, to get education with irons).

We prefer iron sights, but you bring your rifle and its system and we will work with you so you can do your best. Slings are highly recommended, GI web or loop sling.

Earl,

Can do. I'm hoping to get some decent pictures and a write up for each day in between actually shooting.
