I think that, while it would detract from the "militia" aspect of it, it would look cleaner and clearer without the slings. They seem to get in the way of the rest of the artwork.
I believe I actually have negative artistic ability, so it always impresses me when someone else can do such good work.
I wish I could take credit for the artwork. It was actually done by the guys I buy them from, Patches4Less. I provided the concept and description of what I was imagining.
I would suggest using scoped rifles without the slings for the marksmanship badge and a crossed ar15 & AK variant for the infantry, most likely more costly but a bit more meaningful I think.

Hey DooT,
Where are you located? Are you in York county area?
Saj,
Pop me an E-mail.
Oh, baby! What's it take to qual for one?
I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement that would be mutually beneficial.
I want one, and I still need some of the yellow ones, too. Do I send a check for the yellow ones, or do you Paypal?
Wow, here I've been laboring to qualify as Marksman at Appleseed events when I could just buy a patch! LOL.
No more lying prone in 3 inches of water while blowing water out of a peep sight trying to qualify!
Nice.

Let us know when they become available. I second getting rid of the slings. What is the translation of the latin?
"Final word of the people"
I hope that we'll be able to hand 'em out as merit badges for folks that shoot Appleseed...
I'll be submitting my order next month!
Right so an artistic quibble perhaps.

But hey do what you can with what you've got.
Crossed cannons. Artillery is the King of Battle.
I want to order some. Infantry in green subdued.
