Using their registration system to confiscate illegally owned firearms. Sounds good right? They get registered guns out of the hands of convicted felons, and the mentally disturbed. However, there's a nice little catch:
Nearly 70,000 people statewide, and more than 15,000 in the Bay Area, either kept their guns in violation of state law, or records of their sale or transfer were never entered properly.
So don't fill out the paperwork correctly (like putting "N"), it gets confiscated. Got a gun CA doesn't like anymore, it gets confiscated. And they know where you are to get it.
And who's helping them decide? Why good ol' Wintemute. The one who thinks anecdotes and his own personal impressions = "research"
WaronGuns and SaysUncle have more.

Wintimute's a tool. I got to hear him live and in person last year in Olympia when he and turncoat Bob Ricker, along with Ceasefire WA, tried to get a "gun show loophole" bill passed. Luckily we were able to kill it in committee.
