So guy robs a Pizza Hut and gets ventilated.  Response by the parents is what we've come to expect from the genetic providers of thugs:

“If there was to be a death, it was not the place of the employee at Pizza Hut. That is the place of law enforcement,” said Hairston.

(BS, they would have blamed the police and started BLM riots if that had happened)

Hairston and Grace Sr acknowledged that their son was breaking the law by robbing the business, and said they definitely don’t condone what he did.

Well isn't that nice of them.

“It was an act of desperation, but I do not believe that Michael would have hurt anyone,” said Hairston.

On Sunday, October 30th in Charlotte, North Carolina, three men walked into a Pizza Hut after closing hours to rob the business. One man, later identified as 28-year-old Michael Grace Jr, pulled a gun out on employees. One of the employees pulled his gun out and fired back, striking Grace in the head and killing him. Police did recover a gun after the incident from Grace. The other two suspects ran away and have not been caught yet.

So he had a gun and was threatening people w/ it.  But he wouldn't 'really' hurt anyone. They continue to excuse his behavior.

They said Grace Jr had fallen on hard times and resorted to crime to provide for his own child.

So repeat criminal but it's the employee's fault:

"Why in the hell did this guy have a gun?” questioned Hairston about the employee who shot her son.She said her son was shot in the head, and she thinks the shooting may have even been personal, citing past conflicts Grace Jr had had with other employees at the restaurant.“This wasn’t a body shot. This was a head shot. My son was shot in the left side of his head just behind his ear. A headshot is personal,” said Hairston.

Maybe the employees knew her son was a violent thug and prepared (rightly) to protect themselves from him.
No accountability or responsibility.  No wonder he thought he could take what he wanted from others.

Continuing the adventure

The party decides to take the trail to Yetu's location, rather than the river.  We load up the mules while Te'ke gives Rod-Kym-Na and I some information on the local flora and fauna.  It seems like most of the standard things that one would find on a tropical island although there are some differences, likely from the centuries of isolation from the rest of the Palladium world. 

The first day is uneventful.  We find small  'pockets' in the jungle where there is no vegitation for several yards.  Nothing magical or evil emanates from these open spaces so we use several of these as our campsite.  Standard watches through out the night.  No attacks during the first night but both Mug and Ackdor say they saw something watching us from the distance.  Ackdor, scouting around, finds large cat tracks a bit from the campsite.  Tracks that are larger than your normal jungle cat.  

 Throughout the next day, at least one cat continues to stalk us, never getting close enough to be a real threat or get a close look at it.  By mid-afternoon, Alta is looking unwell, sweating and stumbling while trying to keep up.  Some jungle affliction. Quickly cleared up by a healing drought, of which we've brought many, it foreshadows something we will experience numerous times over the next few days.  

We encounter several large cats over the next few days. None are overly hostile but the ones that look like large black panthers seem more intelligent than average and are the ones that have been following us.  Temporarily paralyzing one using psionics gives them the message that we are not just food to be trifled with.  A sickly anaconda and some bush pigs are the most serious threats we face until more of the jungle sickness strikes.  While the version that Alta is repeatedly hit with and also afflicted Mug is easily cured with some healing potion, Rod-Kym-Na becomes delirious with fever, nearly fighting us so she can ‘return to the temple’ before we convince her to take a sip of ‘holy water’.  

The night before we expect to reach Yetu’s, one of the cats decides to get brave enough to attack the camp.  It jumps on Mug from behind and mauls him badly until we manage drive it away. Even though he is quickly healed, nighttime and darkness will make him nervous and uneasy for the rest of his days. Poor Mug. 

We reach the location of Yetu.  A large swamp with an upraised hut on stilts in the middle.  No boats being present, we utilize a log as ballast to make our way across.  The entrance to the hut is familiar.  It is carved and designed into the shape seen at every Dragonwright temple across the Palladium world.  The gate. Yetu stands in the doorway and beckons us in.  Of the same type as the tribesmen, he is ancient and exudes the power of the dragon gods but not nearly so much as what stands on a pedestal in the middle of the room.  A giant tooth, rippling with waves of magic. One can only surmise the strength of the creature that shed it. 

He shows us a war club covered in runes, dwarven make and old.  Likely predating the Elf/Dwarf wars that destroyed the Old Kingdom.  Yetu explains that this came from the other island, L’hauth, the island of the evil ones, and that the next stage of our journey is there.  On that island we will face challenges that will test our bodies and mind but that will be nothing compared to what we will face beyond, challenges that will imperil our very souls. A place where we will have to make decisions that could change the direction of the entire world. 

We depart from the hut with the Shaman’s blessings and warnings on minds. 

@DogMightGames: DragonSheath 2.0

The guys at DogMight Games rock.  I picked up one of their DragonSheaths through the KS for some of my PC based minis, they deserved their own fancy home.  Unfortunately, while the workmanship was absolutely beautiful, it was a hair too small to fit the 30mm bases. I mentioned this to the guys at GenCon while the female spawnling was buying one of her own and they offered to make me a custom box.  A few emails back and forth for sizing and a few weeks later it arrived. Fits the minis perfectly.

They continue to put out top-notch, quality wood work and take care of their customers.

Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Old guys like me remember the anti-gun groups touting Australian 'hunters' denouncing semi-autos in an effort to gain support for their failing gun confiscation.

Here in the US we give them the name of 'Fudd' and the anti's use them in the same way... trotting them out and using them to create fake gun groups in an effort to push or maintain unreasonable restrictions.

In PA, the house is supporting allowing semi autos for hunting. On a FB post on the PAFOA page, a commenter makes an accurate prediction:

something something machine guns for deer something something not sporting, something there wont be meat left something something one shot, one kill something something spray and pray.

and wouldn't you know it, within minutes a Fudd shows up w/ a high capacity assault shovel.

This is good for varmits.but deer, worst idea ever. PA has lots of hunters and little land, as other states are usually opposite or have more land to offer. People already spray and pray with pumps along fields at running herds. That's so dangerous, now add ARs and or any semi in general? Peaceful hunting will become a warzone, I promise you that. For every one responsible semi hunter, there will be ten morons playing call of duty through the woods. I know how pa hunters are for the majority, meet them every day. I'll keep using my bolt action, but it's scary enough to hear one bullet wiz by..let alone ten

 That's anywhere in Northumberland county..they all wanna blow gaint holes and Road hunt..a road hunter arrested every year..why should I have to hunt ethically and sensible and you wanna get the local drunks semis to hunt with? If you need this so bad, your not a hunter..thats like crying you can use a xbow..whi h people did, thats not even a right. Its juat being a baby, wanting what the next state can do. Soon everyone will complain about other places get more deer tags or something

Semi shotguns are fine dude..turkey, squirrel whatever. Just not center fire above a .23 caliber..too many people in the would you do see..someone keeps pulling the trigger with buck fever, don't see a guy down range and shoots him..on the water duck hurting with pellet shot..lot less danger

 Use semis on coyote, duck, turkey, rabbit, pheasant, grouse...ANYTHING EXCEPT DEER. Not big center fire in crowded areas. If you think that's smart, your the dumbest hunter ever..use them on anything except deer. That's just to popular in PA, someone will abuse an easy trigger with a running 10point buck..I'll guarantee it

Im gonna laugh qhen two days into deer season someone gets shot from a spray and pray..and be laughing for days cause your hurting your own cause..everyday i work with fellow hunters and they all agree..they all know one guy is gonna ruin it..so deny it all you want, it will backfire

 I guess so..i own an AR dumbass. But not for hunting, because I'm not going overseas after isis. Im Quietly sitting in the woods. Why would I wanna to use a small 223 with a strikerfire green dot with no magnification over a 270 weatherby with a leupold? Think about that

 I know..but if you already have a good deer gun..why go dump $1000+ on a new ar10 ? Just to use a semi? That's a dumb argument.

 Well if you don't own a deer gun now..your not a hunter..if you only start because semis are legal, your hunting for the wrong reasons and shouldn't be

All the same arguments and terminology used by anti-gun activists.  Just as bad is that he has absolutely no idea why everyone else jumped on him.

It's always entertaining to see a hack politician, one not even elected but 'appointed', file a bill that started digging for 'dumb' but didn't stop until it was offered beef w/ broccoli and stir fried rice. 

That would be the case w/ Sonya Harper (D-IL-6) and her Ammo Serialization bill HB6615.

Some of the traditional highlights.
- licensing of ammo dealers (w/ fees of course)
- State police run registry (more taxes/fees + 1/2 cent / round) of all ammo sold and to whom.
- banning of all non-serialized ammo including brought from out of state.
- reloaders/molders have to develop serialization

- mandates the serial # has to be read on the bullet 'AFTER' firing.
- lots and lots of penalties (of course)

She's getting eaten alive on her FB page.
She represents the Englewood neighborhood in Chicago. One of the most violent places in the country.

Imagine Hansel and Gretel from the other side.  You're a witch in competition w/ other witches for all those tasty children that come wandering through the woods. I saw a preview of this at GenCon and have been anxiously awaiting this KS.

West Chicago Gun Shop Ban Proposal. UPDATE

 Update:

WEST CHICAGO SUBMITS LAST MINUTE CHANGE TO TONIGHT'S PLANNING COMMISSION AGENDA  

ISRA has received an updated agenda from the City of West Chicago.  The agenda contains a note which says the items concerning PC16-16  (the proposal for Firearms Retail zoning) have been removed from the agenda. 


The problem is that legally, meeting notices and agenda items need to be posted 48 hours in advance.  Therefore the item is still on the agenda.  They may table the item but they can't really remove it.  We advise using your own discretion regarding whether you attend or not.   Members who live in the City of West Chicago should make a conscious  effort to attend this meeting, and any future meetings on this matter.   Meeting agendas should be reviewed as soon as they are posted. 
You will hear more on this issue, depending on a revised or tabled zoning proposal


West Chicago is a tiny little suburb in Dupage County, IL, just....as the name says... west of Chicago.  They have a population of a hair over 27K and have apparently decided to be a test case to try and ban gun shops and ranges through 'zoning', the same kind of crap Chicago proper did after Shepard v Madigan and which was slapped down in Ezell v Chicago.

The relevant proposal:

Effectively making the city a 'gun shop free zone'.

From the ISRA:

 1.  Attend the West Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals/Planning Commission Meeting to be held at 7 pm Tuesday, October 4, in the Council Chambers of West Chicago City Hall. City Hall is located at 475 Main Street, West Chicago, Illinois.  We recommend that you get there by 6:30 PM to ensure that you get a seat.

Probably going to be the most people they've ever seen at a meeting.

They can blow all the smoke they want about 'reasonable regulations' and 'safety'.  The fact is they want to ban guns but can't get away w/ it directly.  It's as simple as that.
