The party was going on an expedition through the jungle and needed supplies since it was unknown how much they would be able scrounge/hunt along the way. W/ much research and some GM hand waving, a general rule of thumb was created. For three people, three mules would be needed to carry two weeks or so of food and water w/ about 50lbs of room for additional supplies. For every additional mule added, one more would be needed for water. For an arid environment, twice as much water (hence double the water mules) would be needed. A healthy mule can carry about 250lbs of gear so the breakdown would be such:
3 mules 3000gp
Mule #1: Water 1
8 4 gal casks 32 Gal 256 lbs
96 gp
1 month oats/grain 1lb/day 25lbs 15 gp
Mule #2: Water 2
8 4 gal casks 32 Gal 256 lbs
96 gp
1 month oats/grain 1lb/day 25lbs 15 gp
Mule #3: Food/Gear
1 #1 Rak Pac 40 lbs 100gp
5 Rac Pack 1a food refill 110 lbs 200 gp
200’ 800lb rope 28lbs
50gp
1 month oats/grain 1lb/day 25lbs 15 gp
Again these are based on averages and 'rules of thumb'. Adjust as necessary.
