Character interaction/development (especially the Hulk), special effects, fight scenes, story line/continuity, humor ('Puny God') all top notch. Now I'm going to have to rent 'Thor' since I haven't seen it yet.
Definitely recommend a theater visit for this one.

Oooh, Thor is definitely worth a rental. It is sumptuous and Shakespearean, and of course they had Branagh direct it...
Look up PJTV's Trifecta with Green, Whittle and Ott laud The Avengers not only for being a kick ass movie, but it's one of the few Hollywood films that that is pro-USA, pro-Freedom and pro religion.
I think it might have something to do with it being directed by Joss Whedon who created/directed the Firefly/Serenity TV series and subsequent movie
