I went to the gun show today with my buddy. I was looking for a cheap side-by-side 12gauge coach gun, an AR-15 platform chambered in 5.45 or anything else that would make Sarah Brady, japete and mikeb crap their panties.
Didn't have any luck with with the coach gun or 5.45 AR-15. I did look at the Saiga AK style shotgun with a 20 round drum mag but I just wasn't feeling it.
This is what I ended up getting...
I already have 2 of these...
But the dual mag looks cooler and has a lower profile than a 20 round stick mag.
My gun collection is getting to the point where I'm buying duplicates of what I already have and spending money on widgets.
I haven't yet crossed the boundry of class 3 or suppressed shooty fun, but I may have to for my own sanity.
Going to a gun show and not buying a gun makes me feel dirty.
I guess I'll just loudly weep on top of my 20,000 rounds of ammo until I feel better.

I know the feeling. I used to feel like I was doing something wrong if I left a fun show with money in my pocket. Now that I do a table, I feel guilty when I spend too much money at a show.
At least I too can say that I've reached the point in my collecting that I can be a little more discriminatory in my purchases and what I build.
BTW, get into stamp collecting. It's a hoot.
I skipped the gunshow here this weekend because I'm just too broke to buy anything right now. But I kinda think when I do get some gun money together that perhaps a Saiga rifle and/or shotgun might be on my list.
"BTW, get into stamp collecting. It's a hoot."
I started that long before I started collecting guns. Still have the scrap book.
One of my mom's coworkers traveled world wide and gave me stamps from everywhere.
I still have them saved behind cellophane, but they don't compare against boom sticks.
I've wanted a Beta mag for my AR or a snail for my AK for years - lack-o-loot. :(
Tech question - how do these mags handle the transition from the snail to the straight portion? I always wondered if there were several rounds left in the upright when the snail emptied out. Does the follower go up the straight portion?
I used to have stamps, but somewhere along the line, my Mom cleaned 'em out - along with all my comic books.
Not feeling the Saiga 12? I just finished (well, close- still needs one more thing) this weekend:

How can you NOT want an AK shotgun?
An AR in 5.45?
Why, for the love of God? WHY?
You can make Sarah Brady cry just as well with 5.56, and have standard bolts, parts, and uppers.

The follower goes all the way to the top. I haven't torn it apart to see how it works but I do know that it loads one round into the left side then one round into the right side so the weight is balanced. Also feeds one at a time, alternating from each side.
"How can you NOT want an AK shotgun?"
I DO want one, eventually, but I'm willing to wait for a deal.

One simple reason...I can get 5.45 ammo for $100 per case of 1000.
I already have 2 AR's in 5.56.
KM, I was referring to NFA tax stamps. Right now, I've got 4, and always looking for more. It was the next logical step up from collecting the politically incorrect modern sporting rifle.
