Tribute

Reports are coming in that Giffords is now breathing on her own and has opened her eyes.

This song is a tribute to her.

Listen to the words, feel the music and please pay close attention to the symbolism in the imagery.

Turn up the volume like you mean it.

The left vs. right struggle of the Spanish Civil War in the 1930’s mirrors the left vs. right struggle that continues today in the US and elsewhere - it has never been fully resolved.
Many great songs came out of that struggle in Spain. “Si la Bala Me Da” may be the best of those. It was a song of the Republican forces, who in that context, were the leftists.
I have found it to be comforting in the past days. There are many versions on the net, but Luisa Poggi does my favorite version of it.
I couldn’t find a translation of the lyrics, so the lyrics in English are, as best as I can translate them:

If the bullet finds me,
If life leaves me,
Bury me in the earth,
In silence.

Unspoken words,
Are useless to speak,
No hero is ever fallen.

The future will be forged,
From a longing for peace,
Not for war.

If the bullet finds me,
If life leaves me,
Bury me in the earth,
With nothing more.
