The prohibition of CCW by law abidding citizens in DC was challenged in a lawsuit filed today in US District Court for the District of Columbia. Case name is PALMER, et al vs. DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA and CATHY LANIER.

So DC could get CCW before Illinois. Hmmmm..

This will be an uphill battle, but you can see Gura laying the groundwork already for an equal protection argument--the plaintiffs have met the standards for concealed carry everywhere else, why can't they get a permit in D.C.? If that ends up being the argument, it'll be interesting to see if it has impact in Illinois and Wisconsin--or if the existence of Illinois in particular undermines the argument because Illinois has a large urban area where no one can get a permit to carry pepper spray, much less a .45.
It would be interesting to have people in D.C and Chicago apply for and obtain CCW permits from other states.
Wouldn't that bolster the equal protection case?
