if they are reserve officers in Gary, IN. Apparently quite a few of them have been granted "Only One" status w/o being qualified in any way. Yet they get to wear uniforms, go armed, and make arrests.
Now the FOP is warning police in neighboring cities about Gary's reserve officers by sending a memo instructing other agencies to: "take caution when dealing with reserves and not assume that they can be trusted, especially when armed."
"One of them in particular actually couldn't get hired on by the police department because of his background. But now he's out making arrests driving a police car," Saviola said.
All I can say is WTF! Who thought this one up? Oh, right. Politicians.
