Sellers and Bell told police they did not intend for anyone to die. They just wanted to get Timothy Chandler out of the neighborhood because he was "a pervert," Chief Deputy Bill Lane said...Sound familiar? Wonder if they were reading Alex's site?
Sellers admitted driving the pickup truck used that night, but he claimed Bell set the fire, according to an affidavit. After lighting the blaze, the pair "drove to a close location where both men watched the residence burn."
Enjoying the sight of people burning. I guess the screams from inside and people running over to help get them out of the house wasn't enough of a clue.
Bell "feels like it was a very unfortunate incident, just like everybody else," said his court-appointed lawyer, Lief Jeffers. "This was not anything that was intended by any of the parties."
I'm sure the wife feels much better now.

Good lord... just because these two hillbilly schmucks think this guy is a "pervert", they torch his house and kill his wife?
And this is an "unfortunate incident"? If murdering someone does not get under Bell's skin, I really have to wonder what would?
There is no question that this was outright arson, and unquestionable murder - that is the only conclusion that can be reached when someone lights fire to someone else's home when people are generally in those homes. String these two bastards up by their gonads.
I do not care if Chandler was a "pervert" or not - if he was doing something illegal, document it, and take it to the authorities. But explain to me how murdering someone's wife in order to drive him out of your neighborhood is, in any way, right?
it's too easy to forget all the good reasons why vigilantism is considered a Bad Thing(tm). it isn't just because the almighty state doesn't want competition (although there is some of that, too).
as this story points out, one of the reasons is that vigilantism is sloppy and irresponsible. one of the reasons that real justice sometimes let guilty men go free is that that's what you get when you take the time, care and careful responsibility needed to make sure innocent people won't get locked up. sure it sucks --- but vigilantism on a large scale really would suck worse.
and it applies to guns, too. licensed CCW permit holders have gone through that legal wringer to make sure they're good guys; they're not vigilantes. a vigilante would just carry whatever, anyway --- sort of like what criminals do right now. there's a difference, and folks like alex sometimes too easily forget it.
