No Sympathy

From the latest Brady "We need money" email:
In December, we remember the anniversaries of the shootings in San Bernardino and at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as well as my own son Tyler who lost his life to senseless and preventable gun violence on December 22, 2012. I could let all this tragedy get me down, but instead I'm inspired to fight even harder to end gun violence in America, so no parent is in my shoes.
The lady's name is Delphine Cherry, the Chicagoland Brady Campaign Chapter President.  I did a little digging.  In 1992, her daughter, Tyesa Cherry, was killed.  From a Trib story:
As she left Chestnut Station Theaters, Tyesa Cherry was struck in the head and killed by a stray bullet from a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun. The gun was allegedly fired by a 14-year-old gang member who was fighting with another youth while waiting in line.
This was during the height of Chicago's handgun ban. The movie?  Juice.  A 1992 film about violent gang thugs killing each other.  And the theatre?
During the early-1990’s, the theatre gained notoriety when a young woman was shot and killed in front of the theatre, and the theatre was known throughout the 1990’s of notorious for gang activity and the quality of films went down.
20 years later, her son was killed:
Hazel Crest Village Manager James Whigham said Tyler Randolph was targeted by an assailant who walked up to him Saturday night and shot him to death about 8:15 p.m. in the 3500 block of Birchwood Drive. Randolph was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital, Whigham said.
They go on:
Whigham said the public is not in danger after the attack because they are working under the assumption that the shooter was a "known offender."
"It doesn't appear to be a random act," Whigham said.
Why wasn't it 'random'?
Cherry says that in 2011, Tyler received a phone call to pick up a friend in need. The friend, she says, had stolen a purse outside of a Family Dollar. After Tyler picked up that friend and brought him back to the Cherry house, Hazel Crest police soon arrived. While Tyler faced the police at the front door, the friend escaped out the back door. With Tyler’s phone confiscated by police, they later locate that friend as well as Tyler and arrest them both, according to Cherry.
So at the very least he was an accomplice to a crime and was involved in the local criminal culture.

So the mother's response is to join a group that does everything it can to restrict and punish those who follow the laws, get the licenses, training, etc.

This is just one reason why I don't take 'Gun Safety' groups seriously.

Lawson Family Home Fire.. Help Needed

The family home of David and Colleen Lawson burned down. While some made it out, several of their relatives perished in the fire.  This is THE Lawson's, of McDonald v Chicago and also being a wonderful couple in their own right.

They've done so much for us, the firearm owning community, now it's time to return the favor and show the world we're a family.

Help them out and spread the word.

'MS. Sloan' Movie... Someone's Fibbing

Update:  More from GFZ and also Weer'd who found an LA Times article interviewing actors who stated they met w/ the Brady's as 'consultants'.

So it appears the director was smart enough to know that to label this a 'gun control' film would guarantee it not being released anywhere.  My local theatre gave it about half a dozen showings (that's showings, not number of screens it was playing on) over the weekend. Looking forward to seeing the opening weekend numbers for it.

*****************************

Numerous sites have talked about the soon to be bomb that is the anti-gun 'Ms. Sloan' movie. Some of it has been chuckling about this bit from WaPo:
We didn’t offer the script to the Brady Campaign, we didn’t offer the script to any Second Amendment groups,” director John Madden said when I asked if he had consulted with the NRA or other gun rights groups when making the film. “We didn’t want the film being adopted by one side or the other of the argument, because it isn’t a polemic. … I don’t think — the film is not political in its intent. It’s political in its milieu and it’s political in its, you know, the background of the story. But it’s more about political process to me.”
Well lookee what the Brady Campaign just put out in an email:
Miss Sloane;hits theaters today. On Monday we'll be hosting a special Facebook live event at 12:30 PM Eastern/9:30 AM Pacific to talk about Brady's contributions to the film and see how the made for screen version of gun violence prevention lobbying measures up to the real deal. Have questions you'd like to ask? Submit them in advance on our Facebook page.

Maybe they should have 'consulted' each other to keep their lies straight.

Ancient Dread: Zombies and 'Shrooms

Continued

The northern staircase is chosen by Echo as our path. I see what appear to be enclosures. Barred rooms that contain…. Something. Rod suffers some sort of mental trauma, turning her icy cold, that takes her a few minutes to recover. A voice, speaking ancient Elvish, warns us that we made a mistake by entering here. In the rooms, ancient corpses rise up and start moving to the edge of the bars. Behind us, the stairwell closes off from some sort of portcullis. We are trapped down here.

Rod regains her composure and turns the dead. The creatures move away from us to the back of their enclosure. To our left, Iron doors are chained shut w/ chains. The large room to the west is full of ancient equipment. A slave storage area according to Ackdor. Murder holes line the walls. The middle of the room is the guard station. The western wall is full of mine shafts that glow an orange light. The same direction as the large, hot doors above. The northern wall has three shafts. The Eastern path ..one. We head north.

It’s like we entered a swamp. Moisture, vegetation, moss, fungus, fill the cavern. Some of it glows creating a seeable light. Better for our human companions. Water rushes ahead of us. Steam rises from it. The middle passage seems to have less vegetation than the side passages. Looking down into one of the moss covered pits, I see a creature. Covered in an insect or lobster like shell but nothing like this world would develop. Echo suffers the same effects as Rod when she attempts to read the creatures.
Echo decides to get its attention and tosses a rock near the creature(Maxpary). It notices us, roars, and charges. Answering calls respond from the other pits. Looking behind, two more are shambling towards us. These appear to be undead(Maxpary Shambler). Melina’s ability to Turn the Dead works on these monsters. The others converge onto the group to attack. We make quick work of them.
While Rod is investigating the mushrooms in one of the pits, the creatures begin standing back up. These undead forms took a bit more as only magical weapons seemed to affect them. Echo, her face badly torn up by the monster, unleashes a stream of ball lightning on her attacker, frying it. Her second and third bolts sizzle by me, singeing my hair. I decapitate it, finishing it off.
Leaving the tunnel, the residents of the cages are coming towards us. Hundreds of undead shambling in our direction. Rod’s Turn Dead drives away scores of them but many more start coming through the side tunnels. King and I attack taking down a few of the skeletons. Realizing the numbers are against us, Echo calls for us to fall back and fills the tunnels w/ electrical fields, frying dozens upon dozens of the fell denizens. The sound is deafening. Snapping and crackling reminiscent of the popping of insects that wander to close to a flame. The flashing is hard to look at, blinding light. Taking out ones that make it through, my bowstring snaps. Rod Turns the Dead again to keep them at a distance.

@CSGV Denunciation in 3....2....1... Oh Wait.... Never

A bit back, the shoebox operation that is the CSGV declared in front of a US Senate Committee that I, yes me by name, was a 'dangerous insurrectionist' arming up to start shooting politicians I don't like at any moment, and that people like me should be stripped of our rights, declared traitors, and put in camps/executed.

Think they'll say the same about this group?

US Islamist group arming up in anticipation of Trump, report claims
According to the report, the sources stated that members across the country were given instructions by Gilani to “be prepared to fight,” against President-Elect Trump, who the group believes is part of a satanic-Zionist conspiracy to destroy Islam.
Bet ya a box of .22lr the only thing we'll hear is crickets.

More IL Anti-Gun Nonsense Bills

Witness Slips and Phone Calls Needed

Oppose HB1016 & HB6615

At the end of the 2016 Spring Session, Representative Kathleen Willis filed Amendment 7 to HB1016 Firearm Dealer Licensing and positioned the bill to move through the House at a moment's notice. Last week, the House Rules Committee re-approved the bill to be considered in floor debate. It now stands at 2nd reading and can move quickly if the sponsor feels she has enough votes. In addition to this, Amendment 8 has been filed, giving the sponsor two ways she can close gun stores in Illinois.

Make no mistake, this bill is about shuttering gun stores through fees and excessive regulation. Regardless of the number of times Ms. Willis tries to force this bill through the legislature, it remains bad law and we continue to oppose it.

We ask that you call your State Representative immediately to voice your opposition to HB1016 in all its forms. This bill can be debated as early as November 29, 2016 so please make your calls Monday, November 28.

Click here for contact information, or here to search for your State Representative.

In addition to HB1016, HB6615 Crim Cd Handgun Ammo Serialize is again scheduled to be heard in the House Judiciary Committee the afternoon of November 29, 2016. This bill, proposing a requirement to encode bullets and shells during the manufacturing process, was the subject of a Call to Action two weeks ago. Your efforts successfully kept it in committee then, and we ask that you help it stay in committee now by voicing your opposition directly to your State Representative, and by filing witness slips.

Please file slips opposing HB6615 now!

Log on to the ILGA Dashboard, Create a New Account, or complete the required fields manually:

I. IDENTIFICATION: Enter your personal information. Enter "NA" for the Firm/Business or Agency and Title fields unless you are officially representing an organization.

II. REPRESENTATION: Enter "Myself" unless representing an organization.

III. POSITION: Unless instructed otherwise for a particular bill leave the description field at its default value "Original Bill". Indicate your position by selecting the "Opponent" radio button.

IV. TESTIMONY: Select the "Record of Appearance Only" radio button.

If filing manually, complete the Captcha challenge and agree to the ILGA Terms of Agreement.

Then click Create Slip.

HB6615 - Handgun Ammo Serialize - OPPOSE

Witness slips can be tracked here

The Fall Session can be a time of frustration and surprise. Be on the look out for further Calls to Action as we monitor events closely over the next week.

As always, IllinoisCarry encourages you to follow our forum for the latest discussion and updates.

Ancient Dread: Volcano Descent

Continued

We sleep in one of the nicer apartments to heal up and let the spell casters rest. Awaking, we all feel not at ease. We decide to investigate the other large room to the SW. A door, carved w/ typical dwarven reliefs was very warm is on the far side of the hallway, same as the level above. We move to the next one to find it is locked. A few minutes fixes that. Ackdor pushes the door open. The area is quartered and filled w/ old boxes. The northern room is a dining hall. Outside of two dwarven statues reading as a presence, there’s nothing of any interest. We move down to the next level below us.

The first thing we notice is that it’s definitely longer. There are 4 hot marble doors instead of three. A warehouse. Then a stuck door. Our curiosity is peaked. We move to the other side. I jam the lock. Another shop is armor which Rod needs. A bucket is filled with rings of a lightweight metal. Rod states that the mail is magical. We mark it for later and find her a suit of Dwarven chain that would work as a half-suit. Another room is bolted. Malina raises the dead to unbolt and a frightening Dwarf face launches out and yells to “GET OUT!”. The door unbolted and a group of undead dwarf skeletons come out. After striking me, Echo shatters it with a single blow. Other skeletons opened the other doors and began coming towards us. They were quickly dispatched. The room was filled with ancient coins. Avoiding a trap in the gem room, we find a box full of gems. We take those. Another room is a jeweler. Two boxes revealed a small bag of raw Mithril and a selection of 20 rings. One of which magical. I don’t like it whatever it is. A vision showed dark magic and a forge behind the large marble doors. A voice entices us to go down to the lower levels. We begin our descent.

Oppa Gang-nam Style

(sorry for the pun)

So more Chicago antics.

Railyards are being targeted for mass firearm theft. The BATFE 'encouraged' local aldercreatures' not to talk about it for 'security'. Now it's happened again. Third time in three years resulting in dozens of guns now in the hands of gang bangers.

And speaking of gang bangers, we can fully expect more 'protests' over another honor student being ventilated by the police.  They didn't find a gun on him but the police report him tossing something to a group nearby which quickly dispersed. Here's a FB profile pic of Dindu:

Any questions?
