The corporate gun lobby literally capitalizes on fear after every mass shooting, to spread irrational mistrust of people of color, stoke fears of terrorism, and raise the specter of jack booted thugs coming “to take their guns.” In fact, stock prices for the two largest gunmakers in the country soared the day after June’s tragic Orlando shooting, which killed 49 people. And at the RNC last night, the NRA once again tried to scare the hell out of Americans just to sell more guns.

Yep, those racist, greedy, capitalist gun companies and their NRA cronies.

In an op-ed from the AG of Mass. :

The directive specifically outlines two tests to determine what constitutes a “copy” or “duplicate” of a prohibited weapon. If a gun’s operating system is essentially the same as that of a banned weapon, or if the gun has components that are interchangeable with those of a banned weapon, it’s a “copy” or “duplicate,” and it is illegal. Assault weapons prohibited under our laws cannot be altered in any way to make their sale or possession legal in Massachusetts.

So they know an 'assault weapon' when they see one by any definition they make up at the time. Effectively banning a huge percentage of firearms by even the most conservative definitions of the above.

All the while these same politicians are protected by the weapons they want banned from civilians.

Why are Anti-Violence Activists So Violent?

Completely missing the point here:

Shooting at 'Stop the Violence Beach Party' kills 19-year-old

Ohio police on Tuesday were investigating a shooting at an impromptu anti-violence rally that killed a 19-year-old man and wounded a 12-year-old boy.
As many as 300 people filled a lakeside park Sunday night in Euclid, outside Cleveland, for the "Stop the Violence Beach Party" when the shots rang out.

I'm quite sure the 'beach party' was focused on stopping violence.  Probably more along the lines of 'stopping sobriety'

Pokemon Go: My Ramblings

There's a new fad in town, one that Timothy Leary would appreciate, as people go around seeing imaginary creatures and trying to capture them. 

At it's core, it's fun, it's harmless, and it gets people some exercise though, like card-flopping, it's not my thing. But whatever... go out and enjoy.  Some places are even using it to advertise to get people to go to museums, stores, what have you. 

Here's what's going to happen though.  People are going to get stupid.  Not all of them... Not even a majority... but enough. We've seen it already.  Falling off cliffs, trespassing on private property, wandering into traffic, disrespecting cemeteries. I've heard rumors of 'fake' apps that are malware. 

There's going to be just enough stupidity by the rude and ignorant that there will be calls for 'something to be done'.  Then there are going to be restrictions placed, more and more places banned, and people getting into trouble.

And the fun will go away.

"Pwned" by Matt Vancil, a 'Gamers' universe novel or "The East German Army" by Thomas Forster, THE book on the NVA during the Cold War. 

Look Who Else Was At The Catered 'Sit-In'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –  U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown of Florida and her chief of staff have been charged with multiple fraud and other federal offenses in a grand jury indictment unsealed Friday after a federal investigation into a fraudulent charity with ties to the congresswoman.

She should go through the same due process as in the bill she thinks firearm owners should have.

Laws are for little people.

Gun Lobby's Vision Becomes Reality

 Nothing unusual there. We've known for years that they have an unparalleled desire to portray firearm advocates as bloodthirsty monsters.  

The body Pt I:

American's hearts are broken once again, after learning that five police officers were killed and several more wounded as they protected the citizens of Dallas, who were gathered in peaceful protest.

There is no possible justification for this type of violence against officers who were protecting and serving their community. And the fact that hate-filled people used the occasion of a peaceful protest to commit such an act of violence is despicable.

Even though no mention that the 'peaceful protest' that the police were 'protecting\ was in fact an anti-police protest, standard boiler plate.

Then it goes completely Baghdad Bob/Goebbels -esque surreal.  These are the next two examples they use of the 'Gun Lobby's Vision' becoming 'Reality':

But Thursday's shooting wasn't the first this week. On Tuesday an armed father of five was shot and killed while pinned to the ground in Baton Rouge. On Wednesday a concealed carry permit holder outside St. Paul was shot to death in his car while retrieving his identification.

What did they leave out?  Why the fact that both of those shootings were by police, the very incidents that the protest was about.

This is the gun lobby's vision of America becoming reality. It's a twisted vision of a nation where every man, woman, and child is armed to the teeth -- and where people solve problems with bullets instead of words.

We must do better. That means engaging in two important and related conversations. One conversation must examine how the gun industry and its political lap dogs have made it too easy for dangerous people to arm the worst side of themselves - their racism, fear, bigotry, anger, and hate. The other must look at how gun violence and racism collide to disproportionately terrorize communities of color.

So two out of three examples are that the police are "solving problems w/ bullets instead of words"?  The police are 'dangerous people' who 'terrorize communities of color'?  Followed by a racist following a violent ideology taking what he believed was revenge?

This is the mentality of the people calling for the Gov't to put people on secret watch lists w/ no due process. These are the people who want firearm owners disarmed.

There is nothing else to call this but a sickness.
