Civil Discourse

After discussing the matter civilly and showing the facts to a gun control advocate who thought Twitter's response to CSGV's 'outing' campaign was severe (mostly due to them blatantly lying about it), here was his response:
I withdrew post to Support -- I didn't know enough to make a complaint, in retrospect.
You catch more flies w/ honey than vinegar. But the truth wins out in the long run no matter what.

We'll see if anything comes of it.

The Magical Trailer

RTB asks where and what do you blog from for a new meme.

Me, I do about 90% of the work on DOOT from my couch or den on my ancient but trustworthy laptop, also ordained w/ many stickers (which also seems to be a standard):

When I'm away from home, I use my Netbook (no stickers) w/ either free WiFi or a mobile wireless.

Trusting the Authorities

Would you feel secure selling a firearm to an FBI agent? That he/she's not doing something underhanded?

How about a Deputy Sheriff?

Do you think that sale should have to go through multiple layers of background checks? I mean they're cops, right?

Think again.

August 2007

The dealer sells the gun via the Internet to John T. Shipley, an FBI agent and gun hobbyist, in El Paso, Texas. (ed. who was operating an unlicensed firearm business)

August 2007

Mr. Shipley sells the rifle to El Paso deputy sheriff Luis Armando Rodriguez, (ed. under investigation for arms trafficking) who resells the gun (ed. to a Mexican national under investigation for arms trafficking)

March 2008

The gun is found at the scene of a shootout between a Mexican military patrol and a suspected drug gang in Chihuahua, Mexico.

So those who are entrusted to keep the law are violating it so that necessitates MORE laws to be put on the books to stop it.

Right.

Andrew Goddard is Classy

Religious Bigot, father of VT survivor (and Brady Campaign mouthpiece) Colin Goddard, and head of the Virginia MMM chapter Andrew Goddard continues to show the type of reasoned discourse gun control advocates really want while they're shouting "We want to talk".

H/T to DOOT reader jdberger.

More Book Review Astroturf

A third of the 5 star reviews for Dennis Henigan's (of the Brady Campaign) book were by professional gun control advocates who didn't reveal their connections.

Linoge takes a look at the 5 star reviews for Josh Horwitz's (of the CSGV) support for a police state.
Four reviewers have only written one review (this one), one reviewer has written two (his only other review is for “Lethal Logic” and he self-identifies as a State Chapter President for the “Million” Mom March), four reviewers have written three, one reviewer has written ten, and four reviewers are known anti-rights cultists (specifically Dennis A. Henigan, Ladd Everitt, David Hemenway, and Andrew L. Goddard, who do not identify their affiliation with the book’s author or supporting organization).
This doesn't really come as a surprise. They have no 'grassroots' so need to pretend that the public supports them. I bet if he looked into a few of the other less obvious names we'ld find other gun control leadership as well.

Double Standards

The VPC and CSGV et al squealed to high heaven about the 'gun industry' funneling money to the NRA through their add-a-dollar programs, etc, calling it 'Blood Money'.

But the CSGV is involved in the exact same thing.

They're just jealous the results from their efforts fail miserably in comparison. It helps when you actually have members instead of being Joyce puppets.

H/T to 45Superman found the links for me.

'Us' vs 'Them'

Amidst all the spouting from gun control advocates that they 'want to talk', when Cameron Grey of NRA news came out of the convention to actually talk, they called him an 'NRA whore' and worse.

When Ladd Everitt, Comm Director of the CSGV, talked about 'gun violence' at a rally in DC, he claimed that the NRA and the entire firearms industry are deliberately arming criminals for 'profits'.

There is no talking to these people. They are fanatics. But that's OK. They 'care'.

And what's with the video? Trying to hide how few people there were?

Quote of the Day

From 45Superman over a recent kerfluffle on another post:
I'm starting to think that Twitter, for all its weaknesses, has one virtue with regard to gun bloggers. We can get along for 140 characters at a time--it's when we get room to stretch out that we piss each other off.

Exploiting Non-Tragedy

Even the failure of the Rapture can reap benefits:
...one local church is concerned that Camping's followers could slip into a deep depression come Sunday.

Pastor Jacob Denys of Milpitas-based Calvary Bible Church plans to wait outside the nonprofit's headquarters on Saturday afternoon, hoping to counsel believers who may be disillusioned if the Rapture does not occur.
I love it.
