What's in a Name?

Based on an idea from Joe's.  An overview of the name changes of the larger gun activist groups in the US.

Anti-gun groups:

National Coalition to Ban Handguns (1974-1989) became Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.

National Council to Control Handguns (1974-1980) became Handgun Control, Inc (1980-2000) which became the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.  (in 2001 the Million Mom March folded into the BC while under investigation for tax fraud)

One Million Moms for Gun Control quickly rebranded as Mom's Demand Action For Gun Sense in America (2012-2014) which then became Everytown for Gun Safety (when it combined w/ Mayors Against Illegal Guns MAIG 2006-2014)

Pro-gun groups:

National Rifle Assoc. (NRA)  1871 to present

Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms/Second Amendment Foundation (CCRKBA/SAF) 1971/1974- Present

Gun Owners of America  (GOA) 1975 to present

I said this as well way back when...

I can't keep up with their name changes.

Something else I noticed about them. The real fanatics are still there, and getting old. Their supporters all tend to be about the same age (which varies a bit depending on the current iteration's specific strategy) as each other.

I know lots of people who've converted from being anti-gun to being pro-gun. Pro-gun people range from children to the ancient.

How many people do you know who've converted from being pro to anti? I don't know more than a couple, and they weren't really very pro to start with.

I know one person who sent pro to anti gun, but he was a police officer, and he lives in Commiefornia, so I'm skeptical of his true beliefs.
