"for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe".First of all, the EU hasn't existed 'for over six decades', it's been around for under 20. During just that time, numerous EU nations have been involved in military conflicts around the world including Europe and that whole Bosnia/Herzevogina, Kosovo and the rest of the Yugoslav breakup thing. . If we go through the full 'over six decades' nonsense, we just have to ignore the fact that Europe was the location of a nuclear armed stalemate w/ NATO and Warsaw Pact forces poised to smash eachother for nearly 40 years even if you really split hairs and include the ECSC and EEC treaties as the 'EU'.
Really, what can they do to make the prize even more of a punchline next year?
