Ahhhh, that brings back memories.

My parents raised all things fowl when I was growing up. I didn't realize grocery stores sold eggs till I was 12.

Word to the wise, do not try to raise pheasents. They will commit suicide rather than be raised by you. Hatch them and let them go. Otherwise you will have a bunch of dead birds.

We had a 50% survival rate and considered it a success. Of course, those 50% were released so we could hunt them...

heh

AWWWWW I wanna pat them all, and then help kill and clean them when they stop looking so cute!

I keep suggesting a coop to the wife, she won't budge. I think the neighbors are with her too, our lot is small.

I'm also still pushing selling our house and buying an Emu ranch in Wyoming!

no luck there either!

As long as you say it right - hint: it is NOT "e-moo".

I never understood the rationale behind farming them anyway - they're tough, stringy, and borderline inedible, while a one emu egg omelette is too much to eat.

WV: ovelli - why, yes, eggs are.

Never actually had Emu meat (and yep, NOT ee-Moo, WRONG!) I just think they're neat animals, heard they were yummy, but overall read they're easy to raise, and supply about as many useful products as cows...but are something a little different. They don't call me Weer'd for nuttin'.

Oh and the babies are WICKED cute!
