Realfacts vs Goodfacts

According to ATF’s Tracing Center, 90 percent of the firearms about which ATF receives information are traceable to the United States.
-David Ogden, Deputy Attorney General

Compare that to the statements made by the anti-rights lobby and regurgitated by the media.

Can we see a significant difference boys and girls?

It's even worse than that. Here's the original quote from the testimony of William Hoover, ATF Ass't Director of Field Operations to the Senate Judiciary Committee on 17 March 2009:

"Firearms are routinely being transported from the U.S. into Mexico in
violation of both U..S. and Mexican law. In fact, according to ATF’s National Tracing Center, 90 percent of the weapons that could be traced were determined to have originated from various sources within the U.S."

"...of the weapons that could be traced..."

So, for example, if 100,000 weapons were recovered, but only 10,000 of them had serial numbers, and of those, nine thousand could be traced to the U.S., that would be 90%. Not nine percent, mind you, but ninety percent. Which conveniently ignores the other 91,000 weapons.

Obfuscation, anyone?? Surely the press and our fearless leaders wouldn't play word games. Would they?

And have you ever noticed that when the Mexican Gov't releases a photo of seized AR-pattern rifles, they are always photographed "selector-side-down", i.e. with the right-hand side of the rifle facing the camera. This makes it impossible to use the photograph to determine whether the gun is the civilian model or the military model.
