Brass Scrapping Reversed

According to the Montana Shooting Sports Association. This is grassroots advocacy.
Dear MSSA Friends,

I just received a phone call from the office of U.S. Senator Tester of Montana to inform me that at 5:15 (EST) today a letter cosigned by Senator Tester (D-MT) and Senator Baucus (D-MT) was faxed to the Department of Defense asking DoD to reverse its new policy requiring destruction of fired military cartridge brass. At 5:30, I am told, Tester's office received a fax back from DoD saying that the brass destruction policy IS reversed.

Others report to me that they are already seeing evidence of this on the Websites of entities that liquidate surplus DoD commodities.

Our thanks go out to Senator Tester and Senator Baucus, and their staff, for getting on this problem promptly and making the reversal happen

Staff for Tester and Baucus promise they will get me the documentation for this reversal tomorrow morning. I'll forward that when I get it.

Best wishes,

Excellent work. Keep it up.

Cam & Co. says they were told the same thing by NRA-ILA.

DLA documents here and here.

Hot damn!!!

That's how it's supposed to work.

This is what we can do when we muster enough righteous indignation. Imagine what our situation would be if every unconstitutional, ineffective, evil gun law (or regulation) provoked that kind of reaction from us.

We should send our appreciation to Tester and Baucus

If this plays out like it looks like it's playing out, I'll donate to both of them.

GREAT news!

Quick, large-scale reaction like this is the sort of thing that, when Holder proposes an AWB, Pelosi tells Holder in no uncertain terms to STFU.

Dems remember what happened when they passed the AWB and do not want it to happen again. We just need to make sure they NEVER forget.

I wish my Colorado senators were that good. These 2 senators have also sent letters warning against a new AWB.

I wonder if the reversal occurred after a swift economic appraisal made them reailze that used but reloadable brass could be wholesaled for considerably more than melted-down, lump-of-metal brass?

joated: Well either the DOD was stupid enough to not know that you get less for scrap as you do for functional items, or they just didn't bother to think it through, or they just didn't care.

Any way you slice it someone did something utterly stupid.

I would love to find out where / who made the decision for the DEMIL classification change came from. We probably will not ever know.
