Tell me 'honest'ly. Do these statements match up?
According to the most recent publicly available data from ATF, the year 2000 Youth Crime Interdiction Initiative report, over 30 percent of the guns recovered from crime in Camden that year were originally purchased in states in the American Southeast.
By 2004, ATF data showed that the South and New Jersey had steadily declined as sources for recovered crime guns in Camden, to 23 and 16 percent respectively.
But remember, under the Tiahrt Amendment we would not know this.
And, the fact is that because they can’t, the Tiahrt Amendment, which causes this lack of crucial
knowledge, cripples law enforcers, municipal authorities, policy makers and the public.
So you had data from the BATFE from 2004 even though Tiahrt had been in place since '03. How was it the "last publicly available data" was from 2000 then? Why were you using trace data to generate statistics when the BATFE and the CRS both state that the data is incomplete so you can't do that?
Were you being completely 'honest' in your speech?
