Weis has said that the city's 13 percent rise in homicides, while a concern, is not the sign of a crime epidemic.
Howabout the 8% rise in robberies? The rises in every category except rape and arson?
But those are only "concerns". What is his definition of an "epidemic"?
So instead, Blago and Daley will continue to take potshots at eachother and blame the rest of the state for the City's problems while Weis will keep fiddling with his 'concerns'.

I've no opinion on Weiss. But I suspect the CPD has been cooking the "Books" for years "old school style" , to avoid criticism (doctoring crime statistics) from the press and politicians as being ineffective.
With a new boss coming into town, and a FED at that, I believe the cooking suddenly stopped for fear of discovers and the normal house cleaning that happens with a new regime change. The "unaided" crime reporting is partially accounting for the increased numbers along with the dip in the economy have all added to the numbers.
I am surprised that Daily did not bring in a new chief from the "Old boy" network.
