HERMOSILLO, Mexico — A border-state state governor says three police officers were killed in a running battle with dozens of gunmen that lasted several hours in northern Mexico.
Sonora Gov. Eduardo Bours says one of the gunmen was wounded in Sunday's clash and is being treated at a hospital.
Bours says authorities arrested eight gunmen after the shootout that started in Ciudad Obregon, where the state officer was killed. It ended in nearby Navojoa, where two federal agents were fatally shot.
Bours says officers found grenades, assault rifles and money inside four vehicles seized after the gunbattle.
