Why, instead of mailing the 'Firearm Disposition Form', the registration office is now requiring people to physically go to the office to obtain and fill it out.

Detroit’s Channel 7 reports that the Reverend’s(Jackson) Caddy Escalade SUV was stolen and stripped of its wheels while he was in town last weekend with the UAW’s militant President Bob King leading the “Jobs, Justice, and Peace” march promoting government-funded green jobs.

Read that again: Jackson’s Caddy SUV was stripped while he was in town promoting green jobs.

1975 v Today

Authorized Journalist Bruce Lowry opines that things were better back in 1975:

"In 1975, we didn't have this problem," Glenn Brown, Paterson's police director and a lifelong resident, told the Herald News. "We didn't have the number of shootings that you have today.

He goes on.

And we certainly didn't have the number of guns."

Those guns help feed a perception of violence in a city that could be, and should be, known for so much more...

Still, the prevalence of guns is the game-changer, the difference, if you will, between life and death.

Yep. It's the NRA's fault again. Nevermind that in 1975 we also didn't have the NJ Assault Weapon Ban, Background checks or many other 'reasonable common sense laws. '

The VPC et al ramble on endlessly (falsely) that the firearm industry is dying and there are LESS firearm owners than there were in 1975 than now. But guns are the 'game changer'?

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bigot

I've heard over and over in academia that one is supposed to respect different beliefs and cultures and that this is a goal to teach students in higher education. Apparently Dr. Jonathan David Farley didn't get that memo. Here's some of his choicer comments on firearm owners:

“Every NRA-type would have shot Huey Newton on sight.”

“The problem is, the NRA-types are more like the Serb aggressors than the Bosnians.”

“Except the NRA-types are the ones opposing mosques, so your logic fails.”

Another cute trick is referring to southern states as 'The Confederacy'.

He's also been living under a rock for the last few years:

“What well-regulated militia do you belong to?”

“How does one use free speech to deprive people of their right to join a well-regulated militia?”

A walking talking example of a Gun Bigot. He may be a wiz at math but his numbers don't add up.

Gun Owners Against Violence Blog Returns

With McDonald v Chicago officially ended, the litigants are once again free to express their opinions w/o worry that it will effect the case and Colleen Lawson has done so.

She is restarting her blog "Gun Owners Against Violence" with a planned launch date of today, Sep. 1.

I remember the original incarnation of this site and it will be well worth your time to check it out. Especially once everything is up and running.

More Anti-Gun Distortions on 'Loopholes'

Back in April, I posted the fact that the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership made inaccurate and exaggerated statements regarding the 'Gun Show Loophole' in Illinois. In order to ban all private sales, they claimed that :

"anyone — including gang members, people with severe mental illness, and domestic violence offenders — can buy a handgun from an unlicensed seller with no questions asked.

Ignoring the fact that there is full licensing in the state.

In Helmke's latest screed, they again use Chicago (with the strictest laws in the nation) as their example of why the 'gun show loophole' should be closed even though there was no effect on crime when IL did it. They trot out a bunch of anti-gun politicians and activists to 'testify' including Colin Goddard, VT survivor and mouthpiece for the Brady Bunch.

He uses his story of why the law should be passed even though VT had NOTHING to do w/ gun shows. Cho went through licensed FFL's. He touts his video of 'easy gun show buys' yet, when called on the fact that he admits to illegal purchases in it, the BC admits to having to had to jump through hoops in order to not violate any laws.

Someone who claims to be associated has piped up on the thread. In between mouthing BC talking points nearly word for word, stated that:

He was shot 4 times and had to pretend he was dead to avoid more bullets.

but then says:

I asked him about whether his having a gun would have saved him. He answered that under the circumstances, had he pulled out a gun, Cho would have shot to kill him.

Yeah, read that carefully.

'Gun control' supporters will continue to use lies and deception to push their immoral agenda. They have proven it every time.

The Importance of Eddie Eagle

The wife and I watched the movie "The New Daughter" the other night (I'll give a review at the end). In it, Kevin Kostner's 7 yr old son finds a dbl barrel shotgun in a piano and chaos ensues. W/ his finger on the trigger, he swings it around, pointing it unintentionally at his sister and father and all are completely panicked.

Had he learned the 'rules':

1. Stop!
2. Don't touch!
3. Leave the area!
4. Tell an adult!

There wouldn't have been any problems. My kids have been able to recite that since they could form sentences and they still like to pop the video in every once in awhile. We make sure the youngest understands "Don't Touch Daddy's Guns" as well.

Now compare the above scenario to these photos of 7 yr olds:



Big difference.

As for the movie... 2.5/4. You could tell the director/writer/ whoever had watched all the horror films and liked certain scenes. It had elements of Signs, The Ring, Blair Witch and others. Fairly predictable but generally entertaining. While it did start out w/ a 'Guns r bad, M'kay' bent, Kostner's character shortly realized having a gun might be a good idea.

Appleseed On Fox News Monday

As regular readers know, I've attended an Appleseed (Day 1, Day 2, Afterthoughts) with plans to go again. I won't be home but plan on DVR'ing it.

I would recommend that anyone, from novice to expert, who wants to learn how to shoot a rifle more accurately, learn some history, and/or just have a fun weekend shooting w/ other enthusiasts watch this program and attend one of their event.
