Bye Bye AHSA.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Back in May, it was noticed that the AHSA almost lost their domain name. And that they hadn't updated it in some time.

Well I decided to pop by for a visit today to see what was up. This is what I found:

So I wonder how all those alleged 'hunters and shooters' that supported them feel now?

73% Of Statistics Are Made Up On The Spot

From John Rosenthal, founder of Stop Handgun Ownership Violence and 'I'm a gun owner but..."
the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reports that 90% of guns used by Mexican drug cartels are purchased from federally licensed gun dealers in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California
Ummm, no John. Either you're stupid or lying (or both). The BATFE says no such thing and you know it.

He also says:
"just 1% of licensed gun dealers are responsible for selling 57% of gun traced to crime in the US"
Again an outright lie or stupidity showing he either knows nothing about firearm laws or he's blatantly trying to confuse the few people that listen to him. Here's the CRS report on just how Rosenthal's misusing information:
ATF has consistently stated that trace frequency,
in and of itself, is not indicative of criminal activity by an FFL.

Honestly, I don't think the 'tipping point' for him has anything to do w/ guns. Sounds more like he's been tipping bottles.

No Correlation in Canada

I love gun control advocates. I really do. Pretty much every time they argue for it, it gives me more information to argue against them, particularly when they don't bother reading the reports they cite as 'proof'.

Case in point. An alleged Canadian claimed that gun control there reduced crime. She cited a report from statistics Canada that was very carefully written to support that claim with nice charts right in front showing decreasing deaths by firearms and marks to the various laws enacted.

Two problems:

1) The suicide deaths by firearms were decreasing before the various gun control schemes were enacted. A weak correlation at best.

2) The rate of firearm homicides did decrease. In proportion the the decline in homicides overall. "the share of homicides in which a firearm was used remained
fairly stable over the entire period"
. No correlation there at all.

So for all their attempts to maintain the myth that gun control works, their own numbers show different.

AON Corporation Supporting Gun Control

From the ISRA:

The ISRA is calling upon all lawful American firearm owners to stop doing business with AON Corporation and its subsidiaries. This call for a boycott comes after published reports disclosed that AON is bankrolling a fundraiser for the political arm of the nation's most radical gun control organization. Not only is the fundraiser being financed by AON, it is also being held in a posh club atop AON's Chicago headquarters.

The October 4th event, which AON will hold on behalf of the "Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence," will raise money to fund the Brady Campaign's efforts to impose severe restrictions on citizens' 2nd Amendment rights. Such restrictions include bans on civilian ownership of handguns, target rifles, and popular hunting firearms. The Brady organization also seeks to shutter small firearm retailers and prohibit law-abiding citizens from using firearms to protect their homes and their families.

So the BC is trying to raise money for for their PAC. My guess would be to support Emanuel's Mayor Campaign and to try to keep their losses in N. Illinois to a minimum.

Obviously He's Confused

Rev. 'Snuffy' Pleger had people who were victims of beatings call for more gun control in Chicago.

Huh?

Yeah. Good ol' Snuffy, who called for violence against firearm dealers, decided since no-one is listening to him in his own neighborhood, he'ld go to one of the nice neighborhoods and ask them for support. Of course the people there have lots of police, private security, money, and very low crime.

Maybe Snuff should think about the fact that those neighborhoods have the exact same laws and less crime. Or the fact that the rest of the state, with much less restrictive laws than Chicago, has 1/5th the crime rate of the city.

But he won't because looking in that mirror is to painful.

Wow

Takes a rare song to make me take off all my clothes and shake my ass like I'm on fire. My cat is a little confused, but whatever.

I'm going to enjoy voting in the midterm election.

Make some phone calls

I'm not sure how widespread this is but I would strongly encourage everyone who stumbles across this blog to contact their county LEO organization and give them your 2 cents worth.

Personally, living in a town of only 300 people, I'm not too shabby at recognizing a face. Contact your local PD and demand this from them.

Stay safe.

Stay informed.

Information is power.

And stay armed, dagnabbit.

More Anti-Math

Dennis "I Forgot the People" Henigan is touting a report saying it's all those nasty gun shows and 'assault weapons' in the US that are causing Mexican violence. But, as usual, the numbers don't add up.

The claim:
75,000 firearms seized by the Mexican government in the last three years, about 80%, or 60,000 firearms, came from the United States.
From the report:
Mexico has seized more than 85,000 total firearms from the start of the Calderon Administran
50,000 are AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles
That would be an average of 21,250 thousand guns per year.

But:
individuals illegally transferred an estimated 14,923 U.S. firearms to Mexico from FY 2005 to FY 2009.
That's an average of about 3700 per year. About ten per day in the thousands of vehicles and people that cross the border every day legally and illegally.

So it would have taken over twenty years to have 'trafficked' all those guns, most of which was during the Clinton AWB. Plus you have the fact that they claim 5x the number of guns being confiscated than are being brought in. You would think that over the last four years, there would have been a reduction in crime w/ such successful police work.

So Dennis is, as usual, full of crap.

SIH has more.

UPDATE: Turns out one of the actual authors of the report are upset they're being called on their crap research and are being shown their @sses. In comments (posted for him or here on his site) 45 Superman shows one of them how research is done.
